Travelers really have to go out of their way to find La Vida, and you easily can drive through its small village without realizing that it's just off the road. Aldeayuso, like many old towns in Spain, appears nearly abandoned, with numerous buildings falling down around themeselves. The odor of livestock is in the air, and the first turn off the highway towards La Vida does not promise pleasant accommodations.
However, around another corner is the village's Plaza Mayor, where you'll find the stylish entrance to La Vida. This facilty obviously has undergone a careful restoration, and the project successfully integrates original features into a comfortable, modern lodging. The building design was considered in virtually all areas, and the public lobby and lounge areas are as inviting as the cozy rooms.
My group was welcomed by the hotel managers, who quickly assigned our rooms. The gentleman in charge enjoyed showing off his English to us, and it did little harm to let him practice.
Several of my colleagues enjoyed the spa area, which was opened on short notice at our request. It was completely relaxing to bathe under the various whirlpool jets, all of which felt luxurious after a day traveling by bus.
The advantage of a small village was readily apparent at night. There was nary a sound to be heard from outside the hotel.
We also enjoyed fine service in the hotel restaurant. Our evening meal was well appointed and generous, and the breakfast buffet was satisfying as well.
I'll recommend La Vida unconditionally to anyone seeking an escape from the noisy rush of every day life, or as a quiet stopover on a busy itinerary.
