“Good for a short family break!”

Stayed here during the Half Term break 10 - 13 Feb 12. We were 2 x Adults 2 x Children (15,6). Family room was nice and clean with 2 double beds which were very comfortable. Flat screen Samsung on wall and tea/coffee making facilties along with trouser press and ironing board. Houskeeping each day was to a good standard so no fault there. Heating worked fine. Onto facilities. Health spa with gym and pool was good enough for the amateur fitness fanatic to keep you going. Kids enjoyed the pool which is 1.3m depth throughout. Sauna and steam room superb. Towels included for this. Didn't try the golf but as a player it did look good with pro shop and drive on buggies available. The restuarant staff were very attentive even if they were very young but a good advert for the youngsters of today. They made sure you had everything you need. Breakfast was good with cold buffet style for cereal/ham/cheese/pastries etc. You ordered a cooked breakfast of all the usual suspects which was made to order and very nice. Kippers and porridge was also available to order. Overall having done a few Hiltons throughout the country a decent attempt at breakfast here and you won't go hungry. The restaurant was good enough but for the price I have had better in more restaurant feeling surrounds. It felt more like a clubhouse than a restaurant (I know it's a golf course hotel) but was still decent enough and the meal was ok. There is a great carvery pub down the road called The Wheelhouse which you will pass driving here so recommend there for the carvery. The location of this hotel was ideal for the Science centre, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Xscape at Braehead, SECC and Loch Lomond which were all within 20mins away on the motorway. I would stay here again due to the rural location and bet it's great in the summer.
Only one negative and it's nothing to do with the hotel, it was the couple next door in Room 24. If you read this you stayed Sat 11th and I heard everything and believe me it didn't sound pretty at all! I've heard similar noises at the zoo! I'm just glad my kids can sleep through an earthquake!

“Top class hotel, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel, we used it solely as a base for us to explore the trossochs from and it served as just that. Staff very friendly throughout, one exception was the breakfast staff on the sunday morning who seemed to be managed by a man in a suit who's only role looked to be to make comments about guests which made the waitress girls laugh (did not see him do anything else), however you cannot a few spoil the rest, spacious rooms, friendly staff throughout, good pool, food adequate, very good value.

“Great accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Booked four rooms here for family. All the rooms were really spacious with King or Queensize beds. Facilities in the rooms great and nothing is too much trouble for staff. Walls are a bit thin but the accomodation makes up for it.

“Never Again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Had very high expectations for this stay as one of our party had visited only a month before and had been very impressed with the service and value for money. Sadly however, things did not pan out as expected! Our main gripe is with the restaurant, firstly I would say as two petite women with average appetites the portion sizes are completely inadequate. Our biggest complaint however is with the breakfast service. On our first morning we were brought cold coffee and an extremely small cooked breakfast portion. (one rasher!) On the second morning we asked for two sausages (thinking that as we weren't asking for the full cooked breakfast that 2 sausages wouldn't be a big ask!) turns out it was. We were then brought our breakfast with a sarcastic comment "who's having the two sausages?" Only to find they were raw. As we felt this was deliberate due to our asking for extra, we complained to the manager about our waiter, which was met with "I'm very surprised to hear this as we usually get positive comments about him". A simple apology would have sufficed. So much for the customer is always right! Would also add the facilities in the room are very basic, not even a glass tumbler provided along with a very dark, badly pot-holed and confusing road leading up to the hotel. Definitely would not return.
