“Great location !!!”

My husband and I recently returned from a ski adventure in Japan. This is not a common destination for people from Los Angeles but we thought we would give it a try. We stayed at the Niskeo Alpen for 3 nights. Our room was functional yet a bit small but not a problem. The daily buffet breakfast ,which was part of our room rate, was nice. It was a combination of Western and Japanese food. The location of the hotel is truly ski in/out. It was fantastic to be so close to the lift. The ski locker room is right there as well. The staff was very accomodating. They all spoke a litte English. The onsen and pool area is really nice. It is just below the lobby and such a treat after a full day of skiing. The sushi restaurant in the hotel was very nice. All the food in this town was delicious. We booked our trip through Ski Japan.com. They did an amazing job with airport transfers, ski rental and the hotel booking. I highly recommend them. The skis we rented were 2010 and were in great condition almost new. I hightly suggest this hotel for convenience to the lift. You do have to walk down the street to dine but it was no problem as the town is small

“Excellent ski hotel, right next to chairlift and ski rental, with its own ski lockers and good spa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

My family and I spent 6 nights in Niseko Alpen Hotel for skiing during Christmas. Alpen Hotel was right next to the Ace Pair quad chairlift and a ski rental shop. The hotel itself also had an ski locker area where each room got its individual locker, a very good facility for skiers. The Japanese spa, or onsen, was very comfortable, and my family always wanted to stay longer. There was an indoor swimming pool which was great to have a swim when outside was snowing heavily. The buffet breakfast and dinner was good, but after a few days with similar food, we felt a bit tired of it. The chocolate fountain was great for dessert during dinner. In summary, I like this hotel was its location, convenience and facilities. By the way, it was right next to the Niseko Welcome Center where my family took a bus directly to the Sapporo International Airport after the trip.
The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke good English. They helped us to locate my son's lost google and also helped to book airport buses timely.

“Location, Location, Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2010

The hotel is situated next to the ski lift, rental shop and school. AND as you walk downhill, you will find the street is a series of pubs and restaurants. AND it is bang opposite the Grand Hirafu bus-stop (for those using bus-service from Chitose Airport). You can't ask for a better location.

The locker facilities are excellent - all rooms get a locker free on check-in. They use the system of combination code [instead of lock&key], so multiple users can use the facilities easily and no one has to take care of the keys.

We stayed in the western room. I wish they had double beds instead of twins - but my agent said the hotel does not accept bed-type requests [or perhaps they don't have double-beds in the western rooms at all]

The rooms were basic, but clean and well-sized. There was a sitting area, enough place to lay out suitcases and a closet. The bathroom was also decently sized. Toiletries were provided; and were identical to the ones they use at their Onsen [hot water spring].

The Onsen and ganban-yoku were very good. And not too many people, which was great.

Service was good. We found the room too dry, and requested the reception for a humidifier, which was provided instantly. Staff were generally helpful and courteous, and responded fast to any requests.

No internet in the room for i-phones; but the lobby had free wireless service I could access. There was a laptop free for guest use in the lobby.

Breakfast was okay.

“VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2009

We went for the skiing, what else. To walk out of the hotel and be immediately on the powder snow with a choice of 2 lifts within a few metres walk. FANTASTIC.
The rooms were clean the service was excellent. The hotel generally was absolutely spotless.
This hotel is highly recommended.

“1st trip on a Snow-holiday! Wonderful!”

Stayed here at Niseko Hotel Alpen for 3nites from Feb 22nd! Great Hotel as there is a heated pool & spa & massage room! It's easy to hire Ski & Snowboard gear & a 1minute walk to Lessons & Snow area! Room was nice & Brekky was good for Japan as there is some Western food! Staff could all speak English & very helpful! All signs are in English so its easy to get around! The Irish Bar down the road is good for Dinner & further down you can go to Japanese Restaurants! I recommend an English Native Speaker for 1st time Snowboarders & Skiers! Take a lesson! There is a little zoo near the hotel which is free for hotel guests! Discounts if you stay in hotel off hire of Ski gear! We will hopefully stay here again next winter, maybe 5nites is better for us!
