We booked late in the day - too late for the legendary dinner so we arrived around 9.30pm after eating in a hotel in the next village. We were greeted like family by Ken & Madeleine and a roaring log fire in their living room.
The guest house was full apart from an attic room above the owner's bedroom, which also meant sharing their bathroom. This wasn't a problem at all, especially as we were warned when booking. The bed was the comfiest on our Highland tour, and the room was cosy and warm. We were given tea and delicious homemade shortbread on arrival and invited to sit by the fire - the perfect end to a blustery day in the highlands.
Breakfast was excellent, served with care and great stories from Ken.
A sign on the back of the bedroom door warned that if you stayed after the checkout time of 10am you would be charged £10 per hour - as two very lazy morning people this was the encouragement we needed to get on the road to continue our tour!
