“Breathtaking views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

1. Location offers splendid views across the sea; not far from nearby beaches; 2. Tasty local food and wines (evenings with local food and music are organized), very reach breakfast; 3. Excellent markage, absolutely no problems with finding; 4. Own olive oil, olives and other products for sale; 5. Big swimming pool and sports field

1. Location - car is absolutely necessary, also the resort is situated on a slope several hundred meters above the motorway - this is not very disturbing, but can be heard; 2. Whole mansion is very vast, and some rooms are located close to a local road (not very busy, but it's still a road), moreover this part is unfenced - if you have small children, ask not to locate you in this part; 3. Our room was not equipped with air-con (not a problem in October, however if you're planning to arrive in the summer...)

“think twice before staying there !”

Firstly -dont take any notice of the photography ,the garden is a mess! no nice pond (as in photo )overgrown ,the rooms vary (I can see why some reviews are good and others are bad )we were in a room with a small balcony and beatiful view over the sea, inside was awful ,2 different style beds together as a double a head board that was not attatched ,was a dark green piece of wood with 80's style ,flower wallpaper frieze stuck on the edge, the furniture aso had badly cut out flowers from the frieze randomly stuck on drawars and wardrobe (neither piece of furniture matched ,another single bed that cluttered the room ,The sheets were clean ,but the bed throws were all different no colour co-ordination or patters ,worn out ,holes and rather grubby .
the bathroom seemed ok till you had a shower the tray and door both leaked .so had to mop it up every morning ,The towels were thin ,threadbear ,with holes (ok for mopping up the water! ) Bed room, and towels changed on alternate days .
Food was awful (italians that cant cook pasta! )dont have the fish supper ! red wine not up to much DONT touch the white,
The view was lovely ,looking out to the Aolian Islands, the beach was not very nice and it is quite a way to walk .
Having stayed in Agriturismo before of varying standards all acceptable ,this one is by far the worst and would never stay there again or recommend it .

“Agriturismo Santa Margherita - perfect for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2008

We found out about Agriturismo Santa Margherita from an internet search. We decided to book two of their self catering apartments as we had started off our trip to Sicily with 12 bud ended up with 9 family members.

We placed our deposit with a credit card - there was never a problem. Signor Fabio Molica stayed in touch via e-mail.

On our arrival late at night from Palermo, he waited at the Brolo exit from the Autostrade. 20 minutes later we were at our two Apartments. He asked what time I would like to meet him the next day.

At 9:00 A.M sharp he was there waiting for us. He drove me around Gioiosa Marea, Cap D' Orlando and Capo Calava. He informed me of the local construction blocking some of the Stato Stradale roads and told me the quickest way to get to our plaqnned destinations.

Our two apartments were safe, secure and spotless, exceptionally clean. They had everything we needed for our kids.

Gioiosa Marea is off the beaten path. The driveway entrance had a view of some of the Lipari Islands in the haze. Everything you need is in town, Salumeria, Pasticerria, Macelleria, Ristorante, Internet Cafe, etc.
There is a cheap supermercato on the east edge of town.

Agriturismo Santa Margherita is a complex of properties that include the Agriturismo and offsite properties.
Simply be clear about your expectations, have some polite converation with Fabio - and you will have a great stay!

Joe

We've spend our honeymoon at this agroturismo. W had a beautiful seaview, clean room, charming stuff. This is beautiful base for trips to Sicily inland. We are definitely going back to this Agroturismo.

“Excellent Agriturismo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2008

Please read this review before the other negative ones. First of all, this agriturismo IS remote. But that is what an agriturismo is! Agriturismos by nature are far removed farm houses with food prepared on premises from scratch (mostly) by the people who run it. Santa Margherita has amazing views of the Tyrennian coast and Aeolians. It has gorgeous flower gardens with fruit trees and vegetable gardens at every corner. We traveled with our three children -- one 4 year old and twins and the grounds were perfect for exploring and getting fresh air. We laid down blankets for the babies and opened a bottle of wine and just relaxed while our 4 year old ran around. We requested an apartment to accommodate our large family. The room was perfect for us, but if you're expecting the Ritz Carlton, it's not. Again, agriturismos are rustic by nature, but the apartment had two separate rooms which was perfect. The kids slept in one room and we slept in another. We packed snacks and drinks and were able to stick everything in a pantry and refrigerator. Again, if you're expecting a four star restaurant in the US this is not it, but as far as agriturismos are concerned, we thought it was a GREAT GREAT find and would definitely recommend to other families.
