“Wonderful place to unwind and chill out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I can't recommend this place highly enough.
My husband, Percy our dog and I stayed here (in the Igloo cottage) for a few days early Jan this year and had a wonderful time. We received a warm welcome from the owner Di and upon entry to the cottage found it immaculate, modern and containing everything you would need for a self contained holiday. Although there are 3 other cottages, its extremely private and you are really one with nature (or in this case bushland!). We found it a extremely peaceful and a great place to unwind without worrying about your dog being safe or unhappy. Percy was in heaven and had a wonderful time feeling completely at home!!
For us this was a couples trip (plus Percy) but would be suited to anyone whether travelling alone, with friends or family even if you don't have a dog. We met a family there who come back every year and don't have one. This is the kind of place that gets a high number of returning visitors which says a lot about the quality and service Countrywide Cottages offer. We will most definitely be back for another trip.

Hi there Briony....wow - what a great review! Thank you so much. It is always fabulous to hear people talk about the peace and privacy you can find here - part of the reason I love it so much myself!! Next time Percy will be even happier - we are installing fencing around the front of each cottage very shortly, so that our canine guests can get a bit more exersize and go home even more exhausted!!

“Loved it so much we went back twice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We've originally booked these cabins for a weekend getaway with friends and our puppies in June. We had such a great time at the cabins and surrounding activities that the Otways offer we booked up for Christmas with much demand from the puppies who liked their dog beds, bowls and home made biscuits! The first trip was during the winter and the cabins were very cosy and warm with a roaring fire to enjoy with a glass of wine. The dogs loved the freedom of running through the woods and around the cottage. The Otway trail gave us plenty to do and see.

The second trip we took our visiting family group of 13 of all ages from Perth, London and Glasgow along with us who all loved it. Ned's Shed gave us a good spot to cater for a large group BBQ and the cabins were fully equipped to enable us to cook a traditional Christmas dinner.

Di was very accommodating and helped us with things to do, an extra table and a friendly welcoming smile.

We're now planning our third trip in the winter. A perfect getaway for people who like getting away with their kids (dogs!), enjoy fine local produce and being amongst nature.

“Bit of R & R with a blind dog”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We recently stayed at Country Wide Cottages in Bambra near Lorne Vic and had a very relaxing stay that was certainly not long enough. The cottages are well set up with everything you need, very clean and spaced well away from each other to provide privacy and personal space. We travelled with our blind Labrador and she loved it. The front verandah had secure fencing all around and once she worked out the boundaries she was very comfortable (including the dog bed by the fire supplied by Di). The clearly marked tracks around the property are great for a stroll and Cloe the dog loved that too with all the new smells to interest her she also had a great time with Di’s floppy eared rabbit who loved running around his hutch and showing off although Cloe couldn’t see him they were very close to each other through the wire and it was lovely to see them both. Di is a very friendly operator with lots of knowledge about where to go in the area. The drive to the coast is very easy and we had a lovely lunch at the Wye River Pub overlooking the ocean. Lorne is nearby if you want a bit more action.

Room Tip: All units are well spaced away from each other we stayed in Igloo on the end so it was very private

“GREAT TIMES”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Hi

I just wanted to tell everyone how wonderful a holiday we had at

Countrywide Cottages DeanMarsh/Bambra a couple of weeks ago.

Our 2 gorgeous golden retrievers (and our 2 x donkeys!!!) had

a wonderful time. The fact that we could allow them almost 100%

freedom was a bliss.

Their creature comforts were just wonderful.

Hand made food, clean dog beads, rugs, you name it, all was there

for our two to enjoy and savour.

The added fact that they could not only walk everywhere and run and

play, the added bonus of a huge dam for swimming was just heaven

on a stick for them…

I am sure if they could talk, they would like to keep going back and

back again..

Well done Di and Stuart , your place if amazing.

Keep up the good work.

See you again real soon.

regards,

JUNE WATERWORTH

“Home away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Fantastic weekend away for our friends wedding just up the road. Was a great place to base ourselves for the weekend with people from around Australia joining us. Di was so helpful when 1 of our party got stuck in Melbourne keeping us updated on his progress with our limited phone reception (which was nice). We loved being able to stroll around the property, the boys enjoyed trying their hand at yabbing and our friends from Sydney wished they had brought their 2 year old who would have loved the farm stay. The cottages had everything we needed and were so spacious. We will be back for sure and have recommended this to a number of our friends who have weddings down that way in the coming months.
