“Very pleasant, lovely gardens”

We enjoyed 2 weeks of pleasant relaxation, the facilities are excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was under a roof of vines in a historic setting and the pool area is well-kept and uncrowded.
There is a breathtaking view of the valley and the mountains to the east and we just loved it all! The restauant, albeit rather expensive, was top class.
Highly recommended.

Dear Mr. Bjarni,

Thank you very much for the positive review you wrote on the Borgo Storico. It was a pleasure to host you and we are very happy you were able to enjoy the natural and historic beauties of our grounds. The breakfast room has been restored from a 1920s garage and with the "fragolino" grapes we make all our homemade jams! The mountains to the east are part of the Sibillini Mountains and in sunny days one can enjoy the Gran Sasso mountain (the tallest peak of the Appenine range 2623m high!). The restaurant constantly strives to improve its recepies with new and tasty menus.

Hoping to host you soon here again,

Best Regards,

“Lovely for a night or two”

This is a glorious old and very spacious house packed full of lovely antiques. It really is stunning. Our room - one of their cheapest at 150 euros was outstanding value, and had a quiet elegance. No there are no power showers or modern flat tv screens just comfortable, charming furniture, a very decent sized bed, and a lovely bathroom.
It really is like staying in a rich relatives fabulous house packed with history.
The grounds are beautiful with a number of amazing trees and plants.
The restaurant which is linked to the hotel is fine - worth eating at once.
Alas, the downside is the location - there is a fair amount of background noise from traffic, and lots of local industry. However, this shouldn't put you off staying for a night or so, such is the splendour of the house (whilst the newer apartments are fine, I think you are missing the main point of this place if you stay in them!).
A visit to the beautiful town of Ascoli Piceno - about 8 kms away is well worth it.

Dear Paul5,
Thank you so much for your kind and positive review of July! All the antiques in our home are from past generations that have collected them in Italy, England and Asia. Our historic garden was designed in 1875 by Ludwig Winter a german botanist and today it is part of the Association Great Italian Gardens (www.grandigiardini.it) and has bioenergetic areas good for the human body (www.archibio.it). Our restaurant has improved greatly with two young chefs that are passionate about old recepies....with a modern touch! The valley below has a village with shops for clothes, shoes, food and souvenirs and behind the village there are modern buildings hosting local business that fortunately are not industries. Beyond the valley guests can admire the hills of Abruzzo, the Gran Sasso and Sibillini mountains and with our precious plants and trees the daily buzz of life seems far away.
We do hope to host you here again soon!

“Great place with stacks of character”

My wife and I stayed here for four nights as part of our honeymoon. The place is more of a high class guest house than a hotel, and good antidote if you get frustrated by chains and their generic customer service.

The staff were the friendliest and most helpful that we experienced on our trip. Dining at the restaurant was a great experience - you pay 50euro pp and get four wonderful locally inspired courses with free flowing drinks included, service was perfect.

We stayed in one of the apartments which was spacious with great touches such as free soft drinks included and anti mossie plug ins.

The pool was nice enough and gardens were very pretty.

Dear Stillness,
Thank you so much for your kind and positive review of 2010! We are so happy you felt we were a high class guest house and not a hotel. We try to give high standard services with a personal touch. This gives a chance to our staff to keep a good relationship with our guests, remembering their names, rooms and needs.
Our restuarant has improved greatly as we have now two young local chefs that are inspired by ancient receipies but twist them giving them modern flavours. Our wine list has also improved and expanded to include the best of italian wines.
We do hope to see you here soon again,

Best Regards,

“Heaven on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Thanx to my husband who has such a talent for finding the best places to stay in the world, we were guests at the Borgo Storico Seghetti Paninchi. It is Absolutely Lovely; heaven on earth, the garden of Eden, main house with the original furniture feels like a real home, so comfortable and chique.

Hostess Maria Rita was so very, very kind to us and even gave us a tour through the castello, explaining its history, architecture, info about its family-owner and its present function, THE BEST PLACE TO CELEBRATE YOUR WEDDING OR OTHER SPECIAL OCCASSION.

We booked an appartment: 2-stories, very spacious, even a small kitchenette. Had 5-star dinner one evening in the Borgo's restaurant, with ao. local delicatesse (fried olives stuffed with tuna) and huge sage leafs in the lightest tempura, the best ever!!!!

But the absolute super bonus of the Borgo is its garden: just walking through it means instant ZEN for your body and mind, with water, roses, all kinds of trees so high - they must be hundreds of years of age, some very rare beautifull tall gingko biloba trees.

Visit the Borgo in May, like we did, and enjoy the garden, pool, breakfast for yourself alone, just like we did. And do not forget to visit the small family chapel, so charming with all the precious family memories in it.

Only minus for us where the neighbouring (stray) dogs who live across the hills surrounding the Borgo, they kept barking and barking some nights. But nothing anyone in the Hotel can do about that.

Final comment: on the website the Borgo may look absolutely far away from the rest of the world, on a mountain somewhere, but in fact, when you get there, it is on a hill overlooking the places nearby. So you do see urbanisation. There is even some industry surrounding the hill. But fortunately the Borgo is surrounded enough by all kinds of exotic trees to feel absolutely secluded and far away from buzzy civilization. The ultimate relax place to feel at home and as a 5-star guest at the same time!!!!

Dear Italiefan,
Thank you so much for the heart felt review you wrote on the Borgo in 2010. In these few years we have improved enormously the gardens, planting new flowers and trees that add that extra touch of magic to the whole experience. The bio energetic areas are still our favourite aspect of the gardens as people enjoy so much reading, resting or listening to music in the correct areas for their bodies.
Maria Rita is still here with us and she is not only the Front Desk Manager but also the wedding planner for all our events, big or small. She has followed various courses around Italy and can now create the most exquisite tailormade atmospheres for the most bespoke events.
Our restaurant is now run by two young local chefs that have great passion in ancient recepies and ingredients, stuffed olives are still a must but they could be tasted after a vegetarian "shaked" pasta!
Our surroundings have not changed, we are close to the town of Castel di Lama that offers all kinds of helpful things to our guests: butcher, supermarket, street market, veg and fruit stores, cinema, bars, restaurants, ceramic, clothes and shoe shops. What we actually see from the Borgo are the beautiful Abruzzo hills and the Sibillini mountain range. The buildings in the valley are all commercial and not industrial.
We really hope to see you here soon again!

After a long journey from Rome, up through mountains and navigating snow and ice we eventually arrived at the hotel. The hotel was closed on arrival as it was 2300hrs but we eventually met one of the staff (Dev) who was so helpful it made you feel guilty for arriving late, after this stumble the holiday turned in to a fairy tale, the acommodation left us open mouthed in amazement, the scenery was stunning the staff were stunning and so helpful, the whole experience is one we will never forget, a big thank you to maria rita and the rest of the staff for making this a trip of a life time
THANK YOU.

Dear Dusty904,
Also if a bit late (!), we wanted to thank you with all our hearts for the lovely review you wrote on the Borgo in 2009. All our staff is still here, Dev and Maria Rita included and after all these years we have become one big family! We have done quite a few improvements since your last stay, both in the interiors and gardens and we hope to be able to share them with you again soon.
