Spent a relaxing weekend break at Tigh na Sgiath (TNS). We chose this hotel as we wanted a bit of peaceful highland hospitality, as opposed to a City break in a cold hotel owned by a nationwide chain.
The TNS lived up to all our expectations, based on previous favourable reviews on Tripadvisor. The hotel is very clean, welcoming and the owner (Ian) gives you a personal touch. Entering the hotel is like stepping back in time, where all the furniture and accessories are antiques from another era.....really quirky and pleasant.
We booked dinner on the Saturday night, which was well presented, nice atmoshere and lovely food. We both ordered the fillet steak for our main course, and we both agreed it was one of the best we've had in a long while.
The only small downside i would mention is we were on the 2nd floor, where the bedroom ceilings are sloping, so you had to be careful not to bang your head. Also, there are no lifts in the hotel, so if you have difficulty ascending stairs, best to check with the hotel first before you book.
Overall, a nice relaxing old fashioned charming hotel, ideal for a piece of highland hospitality.
Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, contact the hotel first before booking.
