“A lovely stay at Au bon accueil”

We arrived very late but Steve & Liz were still there to greet & show us where to park, the room was small but had everything we needed,a very oldie worldy house wth loads of caracter. We slept very well the bed was so comfy we almost missed breakfast, which was warm croissants and bread a selection of cheeses and jams,Mmm all those calories.
We hired bikes only 5 euros per day and explored the area which is full of facinating places and little villages,it was like going back in time,no rushing no traffic on the country lanes,a must is Le Telegraph a 15 minute walk up the country lane,Madam served yummy crepes and galettes and a free glass of the local cider the best i have ever tried. We stayed three nights and had a thoroughly good stay.Keep up the good work Steve & Liz.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room that overlooks the garden it is beautifull to wake up to look at in the mo...

“Worse place we have stayed in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

We stayed in room 1. It was a small bedroom with a large bathroom. The bathroom had mould on the walls and the blind was mouldy with the lace trim ripped and hanging down. there was a horrible damp smell which you could also smell in the bedroom. The bathroom was in desperate need of replastering and decorating. You had to leave the plug in the sink to stop the smell coming up from the drains. The water in the shower was either red hot or cold and when someone else tried to have a shower the water presure dropped and hardly any water came out. We was woken up several times in the night, 11.30 then at 1.30 and again around 4 ish with people running up and down the stairs or banging around in their rooms. we could hear everything going on in the room above us even them using the toilet. I could hear people snoring in other rooms as well. I've never stayed in a b & b where they have poured us 1 cup of coffee and took the pot anyway. We did get offered a 2nd cup of coffee on our 2nd morning but we was rushing to leave. Breakfast is only served for 30 minutes starting at 8.30 til 9am but they did let us have our breakfast the day we was leaving at 8am. There was no where to sit out and have a drink (we did see some chairs out in the garden in front but no one said we could use these). Reading some of the reviews on this site and others we must of had the worse room in the b & b. We only booked it because of the reviews and we thought we must of got the wrong place. It was a disappointing end to a great week. The only good thing i could say about staying here was the towels and the fact that there was a kettle in the room. The owners did not even attept to speak french to some french people who was staying there. The owners were nice people but this b & b did not suit us. We have stayed in places that cost less then what we paid here and got better rooms and facilities. I could of put up with a bathroom in need of some TLC but getting no sleep is a big thumbs down for me.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

Au Bon Accueil now has new owners who will be refurbishing the accommodation and bathrooms over the coming months. The bedroom and bathroom referred to have now been refurbished.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

It was a wonderful hotel, with the breakfast included.
The owners were very kind, the room was very clean, and cozy!!!
Also if you tell them before you go in which train you get there they pick you up.

Room Tip: Just Great

“Just what we needed”

We arrived from Paris and were immediately greeted at the station by the owner who drove us the few miles into the country to the house-- though not before making sure we stopped at the local bank as the house is quite isolated. The room was clean and bright and perfectly sized.

For the two of us, the location was perfect. Situated in the country side with lots of interesting walks and quite times and across the street from the bus should you need to go anywhere (like Saint Malo!). We rented the bikes (which are a bit rough but adequate) and rode out the 20 or so KM out to mont saint michel and then back that evening.

The local bar,"The Oystercatch", is a great place to grab a beer and have a laugh with Brit ex-pat owner. All in all Au Bon Accueil gave us just what we needed.

“Clean, comfortable, great value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2009

Our two night stay with another couple was very pleasant. Elizabeth provided an excellent breakfast and a tip on where to eat dinner (the local creperie - food was good but hospitality not that warm). Rooms were comfortable, tea, coffee and fruit provided as well as a bottle of the local cider. Nice touch!
The only issue was finding the B and B. The building is on the corner of Colombel but you enter from the rear of no.3 next door. There's a sign, but it's in the side road. Look for the blue shutters then park in the side street and enter from the rear. The B and B is opposite the Tabac - see photo.
