“Fabulous accomodation, great views from garden, nice hostess”

This is a great place to stay close to Mont Saint Michel. Claudine is a wonderful hostess, speaks some English. A wonderful garden to sit in and look at Mont Saint Michel. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast is good. You could walk to the Mont in about 30 minutes and it a 5 minute walk to restaurants and a small grocery store.

Room Tip: Staying on the lower level which faces the back farm yard would be quieter and you would not hear th...

“Wonderful B&B! Great hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We are two couples who stayed here for two nights. Although we were running extremely late for our arrival the first night, we contacted Claudine Brault and she assured us she would be ready to greet us on arrival. When we did arrive and expressed a desire to find a restaurant, she quickly settled us in our rooms and encouraged us to go immediately to a locally-recommended restaurant where if we were lucky they would still seat us. They did, although I'm sure we were the last table to be seated that evening! The B&B is a lovely building with spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast provided each day was sumptuous and included a generous portion of fresh pastries (pain au chocolat and croissant - yummy!) as well as an endless cup of coffee. Just what the jet-lagged are looking for. Best of all, out behind the building there is a patio with tables and chairs and the most magnificent view of Mont St. Michel across the cornfields that one could ever wish for.

“What a Wonderful Place!”

My husband, son, sister and I stayed at La Jacotiere for one night when we visited Mont St. Michel. Despite fighting with our GPS from Caens, we managed to find this charming chambre d'hote and we are so glad we did! We learned about Claudine by reading one of Rick Steeves books, and lo and behold there was a picture of he and his family in the dining room.

Claudine is a great hostess, very informative about the area and was so wonderful with our son, who is in French Immersion. She chatted away with him for an hour or so, and really made him glow with pride at his efforts.

Our family room was excellent - two double beds and one single, with a full bathroom. It was spotlessly clean, and very quiet.

Breakfast was great, in the charming sunlit dining room; homemade croissants and breaks, cheeses, jam, wonderful coffee and hot chocolate - it just made our first morning in France amazing.

It is very close to Mont St. Michel (we had a lovely view from our room) and all the restaurants in the area.

We would love to stay at La Jacotiere again someday!

“Great, quiet, comfortable, and close location to Mt Ste Michel”

La Jacotière was more than we expected at a high tourist location. When we arrived, Claudine, the owner and who was out when we arrived, had left the front door open for us with a note and key on the desk. When we requested to upgrade to the studio for our 3 nights - no problem. Since we were traveling on our tandem bike, she provided us storage in the large garage/workshop where it was never bothered as at some other places we've stayed and been told that no one would move it yet did. Claudine's breakfasts were wonderful. Each morning she prepared something new to go along with the standard French petit déjeuner. Coffee seemed to be free-flowing.

Having the studio allowed us to prepare evening meals instead of eating restaurant food. Everything was there that we needed. And despite the cool wet weather, we were toasty warm in our room. And we loved the quiet location away from all the nearby hotels and their buses and crowds. Plus we had a great view of Mont St Michel from both our room window and from our outdoor table.

The other thing we liked about La Jacotière is that one can easily walk to Mont St Michel, which we did twice; it was good to be off the bike for a couple of days and not have to worry about a car or bus (there is local service) in order to get to the island. And it was easy to walk to the local grocery for our nightly meals. Definitely a place to return to if we come this way again!

“QUINTESSENTIAL FRENCH HOSPITALITY AT IT'S BEST”

We got lost and arrived late in the evening. Claudine waited up to green us even though it was very late. It was so nice to spend two nights there as it was like being at home; clean, spacious, great breakfast and comfortable. The location couldn't be any better for a trip to Mont St .Michel and surrounding area. The night view of Mont St. Michel from the back yard was incredible. There was a fantastic local restaurant down the road (but bring your translator as the menu is only in french). Rick Steves recommended this B & B and we're glad we took his advice. Would love to return some day. Bonjour Claudine!
