As with others on this board, I cannot say enough the feeling we had as a family when driving up seeing the beautiful grounds, chateux slowly appearing before us, with all of us looking at eachother in awe. We were in Europe for a month...hands down, the Normandy region with so much history that includes William the Conquerer, the unforgettable DDay experience and beaches, the chateux with its grounds and history (Occupied by the Germans in WWII), the local food, etc. was our favorite. We took our 3 kids: ages 13, 10, & 5, and though we would not normally bring children to a place like this, this was something that they had to experience, and behaved very well so much that Simon mentioned it to us at the end of the trip complimenting their behaviour. So if you bring kids, please sit down with your kids and ensure that they understand the importance of good behavior/respect of the chateux and other guests staying there. My wife and I will go back in a couple of years, and cannot wait. The location was perfect to venture out to bayeux, Cain, and St. Michel. The chateux is not easy to find so a GPS is a MUST. We had such a wonderful time experiencing the beautiful decor, and grounds. In addition, enjoyed the local drive to St. Mere Englise (10min drive). My son who is a picky eater could not wait each morning for the breakfast served, which was simple, but plenty and tasty.
