“In the Christmas Spirit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights over the 2011 Thanksgiving Break. It was totally decked out for Christmas, complete w/ holiday music. As Americans away from home, it felt totally inviting and got us into the Christmas spirit. Due to the time of our visit, there was no outdoor swimming or hot tub and they are NOT on the beach, like we thought. However, there was an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, complete w/ an excellent fitness center. The hours of the fitness room were a bit strange. As for being close to anything else, well, it isn't. Although, if you have traveled to Okinawa, you know that getting on the toll road can take you fairly easily and reasonably to and from other places of interest. You do need a car! Additionally, I think there was only one station in English to watch on the TV. So, the beautifully decorated lobby became our hangout! With a comfortable bar right there, it was a lovely place to sit, sip a drink and soak in the view. As for our room, we could sit in an extention and look out to sea and read our books! The room itself was very clean and beautiful. The beds were still very Asian and a bit harder than what we Americans are use to. We did eat at the pricey restaurants and they were delicious. The "American BBQ" was not very "American" though. The service was excellent even though there was very little English spoken. The concierge spoke very good English and was very helpful. There is a spa available, but we felt that was a bit more than we wanted to pay. However, for a quiet, calming get away, we loved our time there. We did not have high expectations for entertainment and wanted a clean, lovely spot and that is what we got!

“A perfect place to stay with kids!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

We stayed four nights at the Rennaissance in Okinawa in November 2011 - as a Thanksgiving get-a-way from Tokyo's cement jungle. The flight is only 2 2/1 hours from Tokyo's Haneda airport and upom landing in Naha it's a 1-hour drive to the resort. We spent most of our time at the resort, and had one 1-day excursion to the aquarium on the north-shore of the island.
There is plenty of things to do at the resort, with a private dolphin pool, indoor and outdoor pools and a very nice beach where you can rent or borrow various items for playing in the water. There were a handful or more different restaurants offering all kinds of different fare ranging from sushi to steaks, all more or less kid friendly but of course the buffet-style restaurants are best for little children like the ones we bring in tow (2 and 3 years of age). For parents, also a nice gym with all the amenities needed for a nice work-out. Additionally, we were offered an all-inclusive card to carry with us at all times, making it easy for us to go in and out of restaurants and at the beach for various free water sports activities. The room was a rather small, somewhat run-down and definitely not up-to-date but as we didn't spend a lot of time there this was not something that was a big bother. My husband was annoyed with the lack of wi-fi in the rooms - something that we've grown accustomed to during business travels. Located in the middle of the island, it was easy to get around to the few attractions on the island - which by the way seems very Americanized, most likely due to the long American occupation of the island and the still existent HUGE American military bases. I would recommend this hotel to other families visiting Okinawa, but not for anyone travelling without kids.

Room Tip: For families booking well in advance I know there are specific children's rooms, decorated with...

“The hotel room is ok but the amenities is not great and below my expectation.”

Checked with tripadvisor and some guidebooks. I expected the hotel is great and all hotel amenities are available. However, it is below my expectation when I arrived there.

The hotel is up on a hill. I arrived there at 6pm, all around there was dark already. I parked my rented car but need to pay for parking fee which doesn't make sense as the hotel is far from the city centre, all customers are drive.
The room is tidy and clean, all the room have sea view with a little balcony.
There was a large outdoor swimming pool downstairs but was closed after October even the weather is still ok for swimming. Hotel also provide Spa but need to pay for their service. All customer should wear swimming suit even in the sauna room, not relax.
Breakfast buffet and lunch buffet serves the same things but breakfast is more expensive.

Spent a day @ the Okinawa Marriott 2 weekends ago during an event that was set @ the Marriott. It was my first time there and I was very impressed by the quality of service. Rooms were very clean and the bath/shower room was HUGE!! Definitely recommending it to my friends when they visit Okinawa!

“Wonderful hotel and service with a smile”

I spent a few days in the Okinawa Marriott in late October and was very impressed by the quality of the service. My nagging regret is that i wasted a couple of days of my vacation in another hotel that was recommended by a friend. Next time i know I'll be spending my whole vacation at the Marriott. Few hotels are really worth the extra outlay - this is one of them. For me, the icing on the cake was the English speaking staff. When out and about i kind of enjoy the interactions with Japanese people despite the language barrier, but when i want to relax i am a little less patient, so i lucked out at this hotel - highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ocean view is picturesque at sunset.
