The Cara Sol is a small, beautifully situated hotel on the high ramparts of the city of Elne. It has stunning views of the Pyrenees over the tiled rooftops of the town below. The terrace, with the most magnificent view, can be used for dining, an ‘apero’ or a morning coffee. The hotel has recently been carefully restored and modernised and has simple, well furnished and very comfortable rooms. There are stylish shower / bathrooms en suite. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff very friendly. For lovers of glass and concrete chain hotels it may not be quite the thing.

The restaurant is outstanding with an excellent menu and a good wine list. I have been visiting the restaurant for several years and have never been disappointed in the food or the service. It is definitely one of my favourite restaurants. Together with several groups of friends, I recently had a very enjoyable long weekend stay at the hotel. Without exception, every couple were high in praise of the hotel, cuisine and service.

The Hotel and Elne are ideal as a centre for visiting the beaches of the Med, the fascinating towns and villages of the Roussillon or a wine tour. Highly recommended.
