“Tourist? You've got to be joking!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I had a one night stay in this hotel and found it very comfortable. Having had dinner in Cumbernauld, the location means that a taxi is needed to get to the hotel. When in the taxi the driver asked me what I was doing here, when I said tourist, he couldn't believe it. I actually meant that I was up in Scotland for several days, not sightseeing in Cumbernauld!!
The check in was efficient and the room was very clean, and although the hotel is close to several main roads, there was no noise in the room. The mattress, bed sheets and towels were clean and I slept very well. An added bonus is that The Red Deer pub is opposite and serves a couple of real ales which is rare for the area and were very good in quality. The pub also serves food until late.
The only negative thing I can say is the location. As I was travelling by train the hotel is a 25-30 minute walk from Croy Railway Station and so factor in taxi fares on top of the hotel price. There is also a lack of pavements in Cumbernauld as it is a town for car drivers. As it is near the M80 motorway,it is a good location for people wanting to explore the Central Belt area by car, and gives a comfortable stay.

“Cosy for a travelodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Have stayed in many travelodge's in the past years but there was something different about this one. It is a former Innkeeper's Lodge and only opened as a Travelodge in the past year. The reception staff were excellent, check in was a breeze and they were very helpful in calling me a taxi later in the evening. My room was large in width but small in height which made it feel cosy. Large double bed with a very soft mattress - perfect for me - and a shower room with a good enough powered shower, tv, tea n coffee etc etc. You pretty much get what you pay for with Travelodge which normally means only 1 towel per room (regardless of no of people staying), 2 pillows per bed etc etc. On this occasion it was only myself staying so it was fine but normally I would ask for more and get them no problem. Overall a small, cosy travelodge which I would use again.

“Run down.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Our first room had a broken window, we did get a new room however another family was put in this room where the window would not close. My husband is a joiner and he could not close the window so i am sure it was still broken. The lighting was a major issue, one light was hanging off the wall, all other electrical items had their safety check stickers stating that their next check was 9 months overdue. The lights were either all on or off, not the best in a family room when you want a dim light, me and my husband had to sit in darkness when the kids went to sleep. They only offer a breakfast bag which is totally inadequate for families, were we all supposed to queue for the one seat at the table in our room? The hotel is generally run down with missing door handles and needs a coat of paint inside. Was a dissapointment as have stayed at travellodge before, never had any problems.

Have stayed here in the Travelodge a few times now, always with husband & young children. Good value & ideal for us as we only stay one night. Meals int he pub across the car park asre lovely buf if your wanting something cheaper then head over to the nearby Tesco or ASDA cafes. We always go their for breakfast as well.
Never had any problems during our stya & will continue to use.

“Now a Travelodge”

4 Nights here whilst on a training course nearby, as far as travelodges go it's pretty decent. Could do with a cosmetic makeover. The bed not the most comfortable either. The hotel is not the easiest to find but secluded and fairly quiet considering proximity to main road.
