An impressive looking modern building situated on a hill above the busy A80 out in the countryside near Cumbernauld, with a golf course to the rear and spa facilities. I didn't use these but had a quick look at the pool which was of average size for a hotel pool. My room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet. Possibly those at the front may hear some road noise. Nice reception area with friendly helpful staff.
My room was a decent size with a comfortable 5 foot bed. Decent pillows too. Bathroom was fine although not finished off to a high standard of construction. Usual toiletries with very good bars of soap. No facecloths. Reasonable sized flat screen TV with the annoying menu system of many modern hotels.
The restaurant was adequate but nothing special. A cut above your average Toby Grill but certainly not fine dining. Not particularly cheap for what was on offer. The service was good though. Breakfast was the usual big hotel buffet with reasonable choice of cooked food and a good choice of cold alternatives. Even the porridge was on the buffet - something new to me! It was in a big pot on the heat and was not very good quality. Travelling regularly in Scotland, I know my porridge and I'd only rate this 5/10. Breakfast overall 6/10.
I'd stay here again because of the nice comfortable and quiet room but not for the food.
