“This is more than a B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

I soon realised after selecting Murdo and Mary Anne's place for a nights stay in september this was a lot more than a B&B. This is like visting long lost friends, who open their home to you and make you feel at home instantly. The stunning view is an obvious attraction with the lounge windows framing the ever changing landscape of the Isle of Skye and nearby sea life activity. I had the most relaxing stay here whilst on my end to end cycle journey and this was without doubt one of the best places I stayed in the 2 weeks. The weather was quite awful but it didn't matter. Inside we were treated to a comfortable sitting room, lovely company in the other guests along with your hosts. Breakfast was great fun, as well as being delicious and varied. It made you feel very positive about the day ahead, despite what the scottish weather could throw at you. A place to lift any mood and a must stay if you are in the highlands. thanks to Murdo and Mary Anne.

“Fantastic views of the sea and the island of Skye”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Murdo, the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Views from the bedroom and the lounge are breathtaking and during breakfast we were able to watch seals swimming in the sea.

“Loved everything about the place.."room with a view" and what a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 2 nights this August. Our room was comfortable, and elegantly decorated. We booked it with shared bathroom, which like the room, was always spotessly clean.. Breakfast was great! choosing from 4 options if I´m not wrong, so complete! we went for the less light one ;) sausages, eggs, etc (tired of the continental european one!), and there were common products as well, such milk, coffee, tea, bread, marmalades, cereals, juices..
It was just what we were looking for.. a very calm place and away from everything, in the best positive sense! (it doesn´t mean it´s not a good base to explore Skye.. but for the relax and zero stress I mean) views from the rooms are so beautiful.. they will make you stare at them for so long! It´s very close to Kyle of Lochalsh, which from you can take buses, and there´s one that you could also take if you catch it passing in front of the B&B, but it´s so so close to Kyle you could walk there.. We didn´t have car and still enjoyed it so much (thanks Murdo for the ride last day ;)!).
And yeah, the owners Mary Ann and Murdo were great as well! so friendly, funny and available for you at any time! We keep lovely memories of our stay and would love to come back (and stay longer in the area and in Scotland in general!). Oh we didn´t see the deer, but it seems there´s one sometimes over there! ("just" saw a black cat, sheeps, and frogs!) Greets from Spain and Italy and the best for you both! :-)

“Very friendly and comfortable place to stay”

We stayed in this B&B for 3 nights in July. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the B&B itself has wonderful views looking over the water towards Skye. From the dining room, we spotted some seals in the water, and deer that were regularly around the garden.

Our room was clean & comfortable, and the B&B has a big lounge area for guests to use. Our room did not have an ensuite, but the bathroom was just across the hall and we didn't have to wait to use it.

Breakfast was good - on top of the normal cereal, toast, juice and tea/coffee, we were offered a number of options from which to choose - including full scottish, or instead you could have either boiled eggs, fish and poached eggs, or 'continental' - fruit, cheese and yogurt. We found this to be really good as it was nice to have a few more options for breakfast, since we weren't really into eating a full cooked breakfast every morning.

We found this B&B was a good place from which to explore Skye, and the surrounding area on the mainland. It was good value, as we paid 50 pounds per night for 2 ppl. There are a few options for eating evening meals nearby in Plockton, Kyle and Broadford.

“Very homely and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Stayed at the Matheson home for one night with our kids, couldn't have had a better B&B to stay in. Very clean and well presented, the best view from a living room window I have ever seen, breathtaking!! The view of Skye changes by the minute sitting at the window or in the front garden. Very lovely couple and would highly recommend you stay there when in the Kyle of Lochalsh!

Room Tip: Any room facing the water
