“Great last minute find. Stay was wonderful and owner is a gem.”

Found this gem last minute via Trip Advisor while looking for a hotel in the Kyle of Lochalsh area. Stayed one night.
High points:
1. Wonderful, helpful, warm and friendly owner.
2. Great dinner. Started with the scallops which were excellent. Then on to the whole roasted seabass special which was wonderful. Salad was excellent.
3. Several nice lounge spaces accessible for guests.
4. View of the Loch was excellent! Ask for a loch view room.
5. Room was more spacious than most, tidy and with a nice bathroom. "American" ;-) approved hot water access.
6. Location is great for Kintail and Glen Shiel hills and Eilan Donan Castle.
7. Car park and bar were great.

I would highly recommend to friends and family.

Cheers.

“A really good dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

We enjoyed a drink in the lively bar and were then taken to the lounge which has a welcoming open fire. We chose to have our meal in the conservatory restaurant which has lovely views across the loch. (You can eat in the bar if you prefer) Staff were friendly, attentive without being obtrusive and efficient. Menu has a sensible sized choice of dishes, all of which looked tempting. All courses that we eventually chose were excellent. A very relaxing experience all round. What more could you wish for?

“Genuine, welcoming, fantastic views & great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

What a lovely place to stay! My wife and I enjoyed a great weekend here this summer. The hotel is owner-run, and this tells in the quality of service you receive and the obvious effort and pride they put into making your stay enjoyable. The owner, Michele, works like ten men and is never to be seen moving at less than an energetic zip. The staff are very friendly and treat guests with the relaxed efficiency that is, sadly, all too rare in this day and age of chain hotels and impersonal "hospitality graduates".
Well-cooked, local food is served in either the atmospheric bar or the stunning conservatory. On a fine evening the later provides some of the finest tables on the west coast. During our stay we enjoyed beautiful, local seafood, home-made puddings and one of the tastiest steaks I've had in years.
Our room was a good size, thoughtfully and tastefully decorated to incorporate modern standards with a traditional Highland lodge feel. We were interested to note that they also have bunkhouse accommodation, which coupled with the bar has the potential to offer a fantastic weekend walking trip with friends.
All in all we loved this hotel; it is a great place to relax, the locals in the bar were good fun and very welcoming - just like the staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the loch - stunning.

“Loved this place”

What a great base to come back to after a day of hiking. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly and accommodating, there is often a fire burning in one of the lounges to take off the chill. Sure, if you like modern hotels you won't like this. But if you like a place that has been serving up hospitality to locals and travelers for years, and only need rooms that are clean and comfortable even if not decorated in a modern style, you'll love this place too.

“Traditional small hotel, possibly stuck in a time warp”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We had a huge bedroom with huge bathroom, both very clean, covered in traditional lavender coloured flowered chintz, and that just about sums things up. It feels a little bit stuck in a time warp, the 80's maybe? One important tip: be absolutely sure to book dinner in advance. When we booked the room we specifically asked about this and we were told there was no need to book a table prior to arrival. Then when we arrived, we were informed the restaurant was fully booked and out of the question, and the pub could not take us until quite late. We made a fuss and they squeezed us into the pub earlier, but it shouldn't have happened this way.
