“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

Situated just down the road from Eilean Donan Castle and a short journey to Skye this B&B had a great location.

The ensuite bathroom was very small, but clean, and the bedroom was clean too. The bed creaked loudly everytime one of us moved making for a disturbed night's sleep!

Breakfast was tasty - the husband is a chef, but the choice was somewhat limited.

Tea and coffee were provided in the room as was a TV.

Dear Fellow Tripadvisor members

The following is I believe is the only suitable response to this particular guests problems from the outset I knew she was a problem, arriving before the room was ready complaining about the weather as if we could fix that!! The Breakfast menu is on our website all of our ingredients are locally sourced and fresh we do not do tinned food so no beans I’m happy to say. Regarding the creak in the bed I would have preferred if she had told me at the time instead of saying everything was wonderful then posting it online. It took 11 days to get online is that fair to fellow travellers? seems reviewer has no interest in the comfort of fellow Trip advisor members a question of morals perhaps, I do not sleep in these rooms therefore I do not know about problems with beds unless I am told ,a complaint 11 days later is a redundant complaint,However problem solved .As for the small en-suite We are a visit Scotland and AA certified guest house our en-suites meet the criteria for a 3 STAR guest house and have been passed by buildings control at the local authority. When we first built the en-suites we surveyed our customers and 99.5% of them preferred more room space to en-suite space.99.5% of our customers enjoy the value and comfort at Eilean a Cheo guest house the ½ % need to read Visitscotland guide lines on 3 star properties before making unreasonably foolish requests. The reviewer paid £30.00 GBP per person total £ 60.00 GBP for the night .Cheaper than a bunkhouse. We at Eilean A Cheo offer the best value and comfort at all times we always put you the customer first and work incredibly hard.We would appreciate any problems with things not working to be addressed at the time as this is not what Tripadvisor is for, reviews take too long to get published.

“Pretty average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2011

We had a very small room at the rear of the guest house, no view other than to an untidy and overgrown garden to the rear. Mary did explain that a shed had blown over in a storm which did explain some of the mess. Not much sound proofing between the rooms - with toilets flushing, etc - although we slept soundly. I would imagine an upstairs room, with views to the loch would be fine, perhaps the rear rooms should be cheaper?

Breakfast was a bit meagre compared to other places we have stayed, half a lorne sausage, a thin slice of black pudding, 1 rasher of bacon, 1/2 tomato, piece of potato scone and an egg. Cereals and juice were also offered. The food was good quality however.

Mary was helpful, and the house and room are clean and tidy.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room with loch view

In response to the above review. The shed has been collected from the garden the front of the house is being painted. The reviewer was here at a time of extreme weather. As for the room size it is 1 of 2 standard sized 3 star double rooms also ensuite with a coffee table and chairs in it hardly very small sorry no jaccuzzi "What else would you do in the rain!!".As for the breakfast I myself am a classical trained chef with a pedigree boasting some of Londons top eateries. On the morning in question The reviewer was offered as much as he wanted to eat as is everyone at Eilean A Cheo guest house. The 3 superior rooms at the front of the house are more expensive. The room in question was £28.00 GBP per person for the night. As for noise I was unaware at the time that 2 of the other guests had come in quite late after the pub. These things happen even in expensive 5 star hotels as the house is so quiet at night you will here a pin drop however the reviewer did sleep "soundly".We at Eilean A Cheò offer the best quality, value an comfort at all times and will continue to do so in the future. At £56.00 GBP per room these back rooms are in at an affordable price during these challenging economic times.

“Great B&B, breathtaking location, outstanding service”

6 of us arrived quite late in the day, and the owner had phoned up ahead of us to check which local restaurants would still be serving food. She then phoned up and booked one for us while we got our cars unloaded.
The rooms were cosy, but the ones facing the water had great view over loch and can see the castle - lovely when lit up at night.
Defintely would stay there again.

“A nice B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

Eillean A’Cheo is a nice B&B conveniently located close to the Eilean Donan Castle. We had a warm and friendly welcome and the owner was quite informative and helpful about the area. The service and breakfast are good. Our room was in the ground floor facing the main road and therefore the view from the room was not remarkable. As commented by other users, the room seemed small but, at least in our case, this feeling was probably enhanced by the presence of a large and convenient sofa at the side of the bed. Our room had a brand new LCD TV, but at least in the night we spent there the image was pixelized in all channels due to transmission errors (but this was probably due to a broadcast fault beyond owners control). Anyway, we were not there to watch TV and the room was clean and more than adequate. The only negative point is the low acoustic isolation between adjacent rooms, originating some audible noise each time guests came in and out of the house.

We must emphasize that the minor criticisms above should not be understood as a “negative review”, but our subjective impression of the visited place, even if we try to be as objective as possible. But this is exactly the purpose of Trip Advisor.

“Wonderful B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

We stayed at Eilean a Cheo Guest House for three nights (two couples traveling together) and found it to be a wonderful place. Our rooms were upstairs and were very clean and neat. I find it amusing when people complain about rooms being small. Must be people who never go anywhere or only stay in chain hotels. We had plenty of room, a great view of the loch and castle. TV was small but we didn't go all the way to Scotland to watch TV and it was good enough to watch the World Cup games. Mary was a wealth of information on places to eat and how to get around. Breakfast was wonderful with a variety of choices. Close to many places we wanted to visit. Really great value.
