“Beautiful views, cosy and friendly, older house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

My husband and I stayed at this B&B during a few-week trip across the UK. During our travels, we saw it all in hotel stays--the excellent, the "it'll do" and the downright horror show. As we were booking our hotels on the fly since we were not following a planned itinerary, hotel were sometimes a catchers-catch-can.

Conchra was one of the better stays--mostly due to the location (small beautiful town, gorgeous views, close to Ise of Skye and Eileen Donan castle, our targeted destinations) and the opportunity to meet some fellow travelers.

PLUSES:
--Good price
--Breakfast was very good--the warm bright breakfast room was a nice place to meet fellow travelers
--Our host, Sue, was very friendly, welcoming, and able to give good advice about the area
--Large comfortable common room, great place to kick back with a book or travel maps
--Quiet country location (if you're not used to dark back country roads, you may find the trip there not as pleasant as we did!)
--Room was clean, though basic and fairly small
--The view from our room was stunning

DOWNSIDES
--Bathroom was a bit dated and worn. Could use a little refurbishing
--Room was a bit tight if you're traveling with a couple of large suitcases.

“Super value, stunning views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

A wonderfully quiet spot to spend a few days, Conchra House overlooks Loch Long - don't miss the drive along to the end which promises some fantastic walking. Convenient for Skye, Plockton, Eileen Donan Castle etc Conchra is spacious but cosy, with a huge sitting room for guests and bedrooms with fabulous views. Breakfast is fine and great bar food can be found at nearby Dornie. If you're looking for 5 star, posh Hotel-type accommodation, this probably isn't for you but for value for money and a great B&B with friendly, helpful hosts, this is spot on!

Room Tip: Ask for a front loch-facing room

“Great Location, but thats all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Didn't feel welcomed at all was only really spoken to when ordering breakfast, no "How did you sleep?" "Did you enjoy breakfast?". Room without a view was small, clean very but basic. Wobbly toilet and hole in bathroom floor. Remote location, hard to find in dark drove past it 6 times. Breakfast? no thank you!!!! Scrambled eggs mega yucky and bacon under cooked and chewy. Town asleep after 6pm, not much in the way of eat out and entertainment, yet NO TV in room. Diabetic? take your own sweetners, none available. Yet, the area and Skye was just breathtakingly beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Plenty of good B+Bs in area, try them

“More like a Motel 6 with a view”

This B&B was in a beautiful location, but the accommodation itself was just average. It was clean, but the water pressure in the shower was weak, the bed was a bit lumpy, and the breakfast was forgettable. We did meet some very nice fellow travelers in the common room, which made this part of our trip more memorable.

“Gorgeous Views, Excellent friendly information and advice !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We had two rooms for six nights and had a wonderful time in Conchra. We had only one day of rain and we managed to go and see Skye, Eileen Donan, a fabulous walk which Sue kindly gave us the information on, Culloden up by Inverness, Plockton which is just fabulous! (have a meal in the Plockton Hotel!) and we cannot fault the place. The B & B is signposted well, it is rather larger than you would imagine, a huge lounge downstairs and the room was comfy, clean, and had fantastic views. My friends had the top Double room and had two dogs with them and they loved their room and view. I had a room below them and was equally impressed. Great choice at breakfast and food was always hot and fresh. David and Sue ae lovely, always willing to help with any walk suggestions, eating suggestions or general news we were missing out on! We will return!
