“A Simple, Comfortable B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

This is a clean, quiet, and comfortable B&B without frills or pretentions. The rooms are well-sized and furnished simply. The beds are comfortable, and there are throw rugs on the floor. The front desk is in a tea room and staffed whenever the ever-friendly and helpful Mary is there. Breakfast is do it yourself with coffee, tea bags, milk, bread, jam, some cold cereals, and really good scones supplied by the B&B. If you want eggs, bacon, or other fixings you bring them or Mary will tell you where they can be bought about a block away. In my ground-floor room people could be heard clearly walking on the floor above, otherwise I would have rated the Schoolhouse higher. I enjoyed my stay.

Room Tip: Try a top floor room.

“excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We stayed in a cosy room and had known thiswould be the case because of the kids but we were v pleasantly surprised. beds v comfy. and what a great concept with free run of the well stocked kitchen and supplies of choc cake from the adjoining tearoom! Great value compared to other prices we paid in the Highlands!

“Great concept”

We stayed at the Schoolhouse for 2 nights. It was a perfect location for our purpose with stunning scenery. There are only 4 bedrooms in the house and we had reserved 3 of them so it was very cosy. While there is no cooked breakfast provided the facilities are available for you to take care of this yourself, there is plenty of tea/coffee cereal and bread for you to have something light which is great when you're traveling since I sometimes think you can get weighed down with cooked breakfast every morning. One of the nice little perks is that there is a tea room attached and at the end of the day Dolores leaves little treats, macaroons and scones in the kitchen for you to help yourself. The rooms and kitchen were super clean and comfortable, the bathroom was not completely spotless, with some stains in the grout around the floor level, which I guess is difficult to manage at the height of the tourist season. We had 2 messy teenagers with us and Dolores picked up and folded their clothes for them, which they liked a lot. There is a lovely little loch-front garden across the road from the Schoolhouse and we would have enjoyed sitting there with an adult beverage or two, but we were visiting family and didn't have the opportunity. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

“So good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

We loved it here. High standard of finish, comfy and big bed, wifi and baked goods free from the cafe!! (We took our scones home.)

Being able to do your own breakfast was just the best thing - so much more civilised than being waited on, and the kitchen was very well appointed. More B&Bs should be like this. It felt like home.

“"What a lovely surprise."”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

After a 12 hour drive the last thing I needed was a list of 'do's and don'ts ' and an intimidating host. And that is exactly what we did not get. Our room was very comfortable, the bathroom had a shower that must be nuclear powered. It made little holes in my head.
A very relaxing garden was a perfect area to enjoy the silence, that was only disturbed by the call of a cuckoo.
The communal kitchen is an interesting idea, as long as you remember it is communal, a group of cyclists who were staying looked a little worried when I strolled in looking like the reincarnation of Osama Bin Laden.
A good selection of reading material was welcome.
The only improvement I would suggest is the addition of a couple of new CD's: The Campfire Headphase by Boards of Canada and Single Cell Orchestra by Single Cell. Orchestra.
We would certainly stay again if we had the chance.
