We stayed on a Tuesday & Wednesday night & were aware from the website that the restaurant was not open on those nights but were happy to have a bar meal. We were therefore rather surprised to find out on arrival that the alternative was not a bar meal but a takeaway from a local Indian Restaurant! It turns out that meals are not available in the Galleon Bar either on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening but the website does not state this (the information in the room does, but a bit late by then!) Also, had we arrived any later (just after 6pm) we would have been too late to order a takeaway.
On our 2nd night, the boiler broke down & we were asked not to have baths or showers, in order to conserve the hot water. There was also no heating which, although it was September, was required as the weather was terrible. We realise this was beyond the control of the hotel but thought that, as a gesture of goodwill, we could have been offered a reduction on our cost as we were unable to use the facilities we had paid for.
You will gather from this that we were not totally happy with our stay, although the majority of the staff were very friendly & sitting by the fire in the Galleon Bar was very relaxing.
