“Warm and welcoming stay in a classy and cosy B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

I would definitely recommend la Domaine to almost everyone. It's a beautiful old building that has been restored completely and now offers all you need for a comfortable stay in the countryside. It's not far from civilized world, but I personally love the fact that it is located in the countryside. The hotel offers everything you need: from an outdoor pool to a wonderful table d'hotes that serves delicious 3-course dinners for a decent price with veggies from the garden. The service is great and the owners are always willing to give you some tips about what to do in the neighbourhood and nice paths to take for a walk.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Very comfortable, lovely hosts, great food. Don't miss the great dinners complete with nice company. They must have a good gardener because their garden was beautifully maintained! Great place for walking in the countryside! We only had great experiences and not a single complaint!

Thanks to our hosts carol and pietro for a unforgetable stay!

“Charming, classy and quiet. Best B&B hotel experience in the heart of french culture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

Nice, quiet and classy place. We felt lik we were enjoying the most selected taste of France. Like being invited to attend a privileged moment. Luxury rooms, nice wine, wonderfull bread, selected cheese, nice music and conversation. We stayed two nights at Domaine de la Louveterie and had a Season dinner the first night, and a “French Refined Cuisine Dinner” the second. This is probably one of our nicest gastronomic experience. We stayed in the “Suite XVIIIème” which is a split level room whith amazing ancient open fire place. It is entirely covered with ancient pale oak. Very nice bathroom: bathtub is an antique gem still in perfect shape. It was a new romantic experience. Very large and comfortable bed. We spent two “soo silent” nights.. And when I woke up, I could enjoy the nice view on the forest, the valley and Carol & Pietro’s horses. TV and DVD (english movies available!). Direct access from our room to the outside (garden and terrace). We were travelling with my best friend and her husband. Our friends had the “Suite Mauresque”, smaller than ours but still with a very romantic bathroom and warm mediterranean colours. Carol and Pietro are very nice persons, cheerfull and helpfull. I definitely recommend this place.

“A perfect place to unwind, eat well and sleep well.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2010

This is a very long overdue review of my family's stay at La Louveterie. We were fortunate to spend a few days here in the fall of 2008.
We had some difficulties finding this gem hidden away in the countryside, but once there we did not want to leave. La Louveterie is located on a beautiful plot surrounded by endless fields with horses in the 'backyard', and cows in the distance.
The rooms are modest, yet comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Carol et Pietro are wonderful hosts, offering up maps and ideas for daily trips in the region.
The most important detail, however, is Carol's cooking. The breakfasts and dinners were remarkable with fresh ingredients from the garden and local suppliers. For the most part, dinners were communal, which provided for interesting meals meeting new people.
I hope to be back soon for an overdue rest. I recommend La Louveterie for a quiet getaway, perfect for recharging your batteries.

“Quaint B&B, quiet and beautiful location, noisy building, cluttered rooms. Overated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2009

This is very quaint place, very quiet, but in our opinion overrated. The owners seemed to be nice enough though. The building has been carefully renovated by the owners (they showed us photos of how dilapidated it used to be). Each bedroom has a theme. We had "Voyages", which contained suitcases, photos of trips, and general travel bric-a-brac. But this was one of the problems with the room. It contained huge quantities of what many people would say is junk. There was so much of it that the owners had not provided a wardrobe for guests. This is a basic requirement and a major omission for what purports to be a luxury B&B. The only place to hang anything was a hook in the bathroom. The bathroom was an odd shape; the toilet was a separate room, which was not very convenient. With careful room planning at the re-building stage, the WC and bathroom could have been one room, which is much more convenient for guests. The TV did not have Sky, only French channels, which was disappointing. A tea/coffee tray was provided in the room. We were not offered any snacks when we arrived mid-afternoon; we'd been on the road for 6 hours (from the south of France) and the offer of a light snack would have been welcomed. Use of the swimming pool was offered to us, but we declined as it didn't look that inviting and it was not warm enough. We went for a short walk in the grounds, which was very nice. We had dinner at 8pm, shared with other guests, with whom we were forced to make polite conversation as there was a shared dining table. The other guests (an older couple) were French, and as we didn't speak much, and they didn't speak much English, conversation was strained. Throughout the meal, the owners tended to gravitate to the French guests and speak French to them, rather than speak to us much in English, but it's understandable that they would probably prefer to speak French in their own country! Dinner was a set menu of 3 courses. The starter was a vegetable dish, with huge amounts of garlic, some of which had not been crushed as we unexpectedly bit into a large piece of it (not nice!). Main course was Salmon, which was tasty. Dessert was pleasant enough. We were offered wine of the region but it was served lukewarm. We retired to bed after dinner. Then another problem arose. We could clearly hear the older couple in the room next door. We could hear their footsteps, hear them going to the toilet (which was right next to our room) and hear them talking. The owners had obviously not thought of sound insulation and sound transmission through this old building when they renovated it. It was awful at 3am when the guest next door went to the toilet; we could hear every last drop of his pee! Breakfast was toasted French bread, jams, cheeses, yoghurt, juice and tea/coffee. But we only ate the toast. The location is wonderful and quiet. The rooms are unnecessarily cluttered, poorly planned and noisy. The owners are pleasant. The food is average. But we would not recommend this place.
