We discovered La Louveterie through a simple search on the Internet looking for a weekend away close to Paris and hoping to discover Le Perche. I was attracted by the lovely photos from a magazine article I had read about this lovely place but had no idea what we would find upon our arrival. Not only was La Louveterie as lovely as in the photos, but the warm welcome and beautifully decorated suite were way above our expectations. And then came the meals! Breakfast is the perfect start to the day with wonderfully fresh local bread, yogurt, juice, cheese, Carol's homemade jams and cakes and a bottomless silver pot of tea and coffee. Pietro and Carol are experts on the region and have all the tips one needs to spend a lovely day discovering the area visiting chateaux, horseback riding or walking through the nearby forests hunting for mushrooms. The day winds down with one of the most delicious meals one can find in France, rivaling any grand restaurant in Paris without a doubt. Carol is a genius in the kitchen and her dishes are succulent, all fresh products from the region and some from her own garden. The wine cellar is exquisite and Pietro has wonderful stories to tell by the fire as the evening comes to an end. La Louveterie has become our favorite weekend getaway by far, the best kept secret in France!
