“I think the poor reviews are unfair!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel and the staff are brilliant. Me and my partner stayed in room 30 at the top, and our friends in room 34 in the 'cottage' and between us four there were no issues at all. If anything for the price we paid it was too good. As a budget hotel it is super, we were pre warned about the possibility of any loud music from bar areas due to a function. We were helped in the right direction for a decent meal and drinks. All the staff brilliant and even the hotel manager was around alot and more than happy to talk to us. I just think they aren't gettin the credit they should in these reviews.

“Very close to the football Stadium”

My husband and I came to stay at old Trafford Hall Hotel after traveling from the United States to see a Manchester United match. The stadium is literally within walking distance from the hotel so that is convenient. The hotel is extremely extremely extremely rustic. However the hotel staff was phenomenally helpful. If you are looking for a place to lay your head after a match at old Trafford this is not a bad place. There is very little to do around this hotel as far as restaurants and bars but the Metrolink to the downtown area is less than 2 min. walk

“a place to sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

The rating is nothing to do with the staff who were very helpful and friendly. If you want somewhere to sleep which is cheap close to the center of things this is the place for you. Do not expect anything more you will be disapointed. The building itself is old and the rooms are out dated but we had a warm goods night sleep which is what we needed after exploring manchester all day.

“WORST HOTEL EVER!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I have been to many hotels in Manchester, but without doubt, this is the worst Hotel I have ever been in. The maintainence is so poor, with gaffer tape used to patch up everything, from the curtains to the carpet. The reason we choose this Hotel was the location, a 5 minute walk to Manchester United Football Club, on reflection, I would rather have walked 10 miles than stayed in this place. The staff were quite friendly, but had no real interest in their guests, the room was dirty, musty, the mirror fell off the wall, the shower curtain was moulded at the bottom, cold water at 8.30am, therefore no shower, when we went for breakfast, we were met by a guy in casual clothes, the lady cooking the breakfast was in casual clothes, no aprons, no uniforms, and no hat or hairnet, surely a must in a commerical kitchen. The "head waiter" had a whole 3 tables to serve, but managed to get our table, and one of the other tables order wrong, the quality of the food we got was awful and barely warm. This is the 1st time I have ever taken time to write a review, but feel that this Hotels website is misleading, and does not reflect the poor run down state this Hotel is in.
