“Avoid this hotel like the plague.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We were booked into this hotel as part of a wedding we were attending outside Huntly, our room can only be described as disgusted, it looked like a grotty bedsit, unclean, dirty walls, ripped and cracked walls, radiator was brown - thick with dirt. The furniture was cracked, chipped and grotty. The room was tiny and just disgusting. The bathroom which was down the corridor, had a dirty toilet, and was grotty and ripped wallpaper and it stunk like a sewer. We asked at reception (which is unmanned but the staff we did find were helpful) to change rooms as we spoke to someone else who was a guest who said their room was a double ensuite, basic but clean but we were told they were full. The owner was not there so we were told to come back the next day as she was away shopping. We went back the next day where we waited a while as the owner was out picking up staff, the reception area if you can call it that is dirty, dark and holes in the plaster board on the walls. When the owner arrived and we explained that we wanted a refund she was not very happy at our comments and offered no apology or explanation, we said we wanted our £55 back as it had been paid up front, we grudgingly got this but she just passed us the money and was not very amused! Thank goodness for the Gordon Arms Hotel just along the road for them giving us a great room at the same price. Please avoid this hotel like the plague (unless you are lucky to have one of the basic but clean double on suite rooms) unless you are looking for a grotty, disgusting bedsit of a room. Very disappointed.

“Lunch at the Huntly Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

An old hotel in Huntly square. It's rated at 2 star which is absolutely correct. The staff were friendly and food was acceptable. If you need a quick bite then it's adequate.

“not my idea of a holiday hotel....but room for improvement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

stayed here for one night while working in the area, but, idont think it would be my idea of a holiday hotel. £75 for b and b
when i checked in i was asked if i would be having dinner and if i was i could use the bar or the dinning room.....the noise of music from the bar was horrendous so i chose the dinning room, now, i do like music but after a shift at work music blaring while eating is not on.i did enjoy my dinner in the dinning room and was treated to one of the best steak and ale pies i have had.
the room was clean and tidy, but the toilet had not toilet paper holder, no towel rails ( which i thought unusual ) and the shower once had a door but was now blessed with a curtain and the light over the washand basin was out of action.
it gave me a slight impression that things were being done on the cheap and other things just being over looked not a good idea when looking for customers and tourists.
the hotel is ideally situated in huntly and should be rather busy but by the time i was eating there was only 3 others in the dinning room.....and when i finished i thought another pint would be refreshing....but the blast of the music put me right off.....and it made me wonder....how many others did it put off.
no....i dont think i will be back...but never say never.....i do think it can be improved....lets hope so

i stayed at the hotel last week on business and returned on the monday and tuesday of this week for all i didn't eat in the restaurant it looked very clean and very nice. I found the staff to be very helpful and made me feel very welcome. If in the future i return up to that area i will have no hesitation to return to the huntly hotel.
