“Clean, comfortable but looking a little tired.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Spent new years eve here and played golf on the Hawkstone and Championship courses. The latter was a quagmire and not really playable whilst the majority of the Hawkstone course was played on temporary tees and greens - disappointing. Would suggest clarifying course condition before paying a green fee.
The hotel had two functions on new years eve one of which was in the Hotel and the other in the golf centre, a short walk (in the rain) away.
Room was adequate but would benefit from a make-over.
Good breakfast. Friendly staff.

“A Christmas extravaganza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Marvellous christmas. Could have had the manager mix in a bit more he seemed very aloof not his cup of tea type of thing but the staff were excellent. Could have had biscuits in room with water which they usually did.. They could have cut down elsewhere like the shampoo could be in a container on the wall and the soap in a large container. Many hotels now do this. .Coat hooks just inside the room door as well would have been good to hang your coats on.The bar could have been open on boxing day. Maybe nit picking but these are things worth remembering when people talk about the christmas holiday at that hotel. Food excellent and plenty of it.

“Santa Safari”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Stayed at Hawkstone Park Hotel whilst visiting the santa safari at the follies. This is our second year and we can already see improvements to the hotel. The room was big enough for a family of four, a little cold on arrival but popped on the heater and it soon warmed up. Room was clean and tidy and had wonderfull comfy beds and pillows. The hotel itself is a little dated but it is in the country and not a new city centre hotel. The food was lovely and the staff busy but friendly. Santa safari this year was a little different than last but still magical and we hope we will be lucky enough to go back next year. Thankyou Hawkstone and merry christmas :)

“Christmas Santa Trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We have been to Hawkstone Park for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, last year was when it was snowy, it was cancelled. We were therefore a little worried as to what would happen this year. We needn't have been! We arrived for lunch at 1.00pm. The food and the service was fantastic. Piping hot roast dinner and the kids were very happy with their choice of meals. The receptionist was very informative about the Santa Trail and our rooms etc. As to the Santa Trail, the best one yet! We arrived at the shop where the kids were kept occupied in Aslams Den until Speedy Elf came to take us in his landrover. (One point is that the lady in the shop made it even more exciting for the kids by telling them about the passport we needed to see Santa and handing out bracelets in a lovely way) Special mention to Hayley who remembered that we come last year and not been able to see Santa (just a little thing, but this extra Customer Service was appreciated) and then off to meet Barry the Elf who was absolutely fantastic and very funny. Then into Narnia, through the wardrobe to meet the White Witch, Lucy and Father Christmas. Thought this idea of Narnia was the best yet and Father Christmas was great and spent time chatting to the kids. The room was very spacious (we were a little bit cold and asked for a heater which arrived in about 2 minutes!) Breakfast the next day was superb and would like to congratulate the Staff and the Hotel for making this visit to Santa very special.

“What has happened to Hawkstone Park?”

I have been going to Hawkstone Park for many years now, for functions, meetings and leisure. I would never have been compelled to write on these sort of things, but am quite frankly shocked and appalled that an establishment is still operating after what I have experienced after a second encounter this past weekend at Hawkstone Park. Firstly I attended a yearly function that Is a key date on our social calendar, a few weeks ago, when we were actually served rancid beef directly onto our plates, i am not joking here, the smell of the meat was horrendous, yet the waitress still came and served it to us. I'm no trained chef, but can certainly tell if food is off, but the chef's, waiting staff and management at Hawkstone Park clearly can't. We consequently returned our meat, and only ate our vegetables for our main meal, as you can't really go wrong with veg can you??....... But you can, I found this out on my next visit. This weekend we attended a Xmas party at the Hotel, a little dubious, after our last visit, but with the number of good meals over the past years outweighing the bad ones, we had put it down to a one off.....How wrong we were. This time we were served raw vegables with our meal, again I say, I'm no chef but can certainly tell if a vegable is cooked or not, but again that doesn't seem to be the case, as yet again these were served to our table. We were then all sweetened with free wine, while waiting for the veg to cook, but this is surely not good practice by an establishment. People can shout at the waitresses, but it isn't their fault, what is the management and owners of Hawkstone Park doing about it? There seemed to be many different managers on both occasions, but not doing anything to prevent these atrocities. They have certainly lost a loyal customer in myself, along with many more, I know that for sure, as who will pay money for gone off meat and raw vegetables?? What has happened to Hawkstone Park? What has happened to Hawkstone Park? I keep asking myself....maybe after this Hawkstone Park may finally ask themselves the same question?

Dear reveiwer,
i am sorry that you have experienced two poor events during last year. In both cases we did have extenuating circumtances that caused the problems, albeit quite different. One issue with our beef supplier which has now been resolved and an alternative sourced. Our client on this occassion was recompensed for this incident and clearly we were most unhappy about it ourselves. On the other occasion we did have a technical malfunction which caused a problem and once again this was most regrettable and embarrassing as at point of service it was too late to resolve in a satisfactory manner. All of our customers were compensated for this. Pleasingly we have had no similar situations over the last 6 weeks and served over 6000 meals but both incidents have reminded my team to be more rigorous with their checks on our suppliers and our equipment.
