“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

This farmhouse lived up to everything anyone else has had to say about it. The rooms are fantastic, being colour themed to red, yellow and blue with furnishings sufficiently country oriented to match. Julie and Sam are really welcoming and hospitable and nothing is too much trouble. Location is superb for Rowton weddings and is not too far from the town of Shrewsbury, although you definitely need a car in this area of the world. Would definitely recommend time and again.
Only downside: Rooms are large but very cluttered with knick knacks, but interesting and keep you amused for ages. We hit the turnabout weather from late summer to an autumn nip in the air and the rooms were very cold. As the house dates from 1711, central heating is not viable and the owners are not keen on installing for obvious reasons. We did notice some heaters discreetly tucked away but they weren't switched on. Take woollies if going in the autumn!

Room Tip: Book early

“Beautiful farmhouse, great views, fab hosts, lovely room”

I can't really say much more and can only agree with all the good reviews. I'm very surprised at the 2 bad reviews here as they don't reflect our experience at all. We arrived and were greeted like family. Like many others, we attended a wedding at Rowton Castle and were offered a lift back (at a fraction of the cost of a cab) if we wanted it. Comfy bed, great breakfast (but no tomatoes Julie!!) served on the patio overlooking the fab gardens and mountains in the distance. We were the only members of the wedding party who didn't stay at the castle as it was full. We had as good an experience as people at the castle at a fraction of the cost - who could ask for more?

“Posh pods are amazing!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

I arranged to stay at the Brookhouse as a surprise for my wifes birthday, I decided to stay in the 'posh pods' as they are so unique and knew my wife would love it, and the Brook house has such a good reputation for service and quality. The pods are so well made long oval shaped, built in pine with wooden tiles completly covering the ouside walls and sides. The double glazed entrance doors with the built in decking and seating makes them feel very cosy. I was so surprised how much room there was inside a full size bed ( with Kath Kitson covers...as my wife informs me!) a couple of chairs and table and tea and coffe facilities tastfully arranged on shelfs in the corner. Having visited before hand Julia ( who is so loveley and cant do enough for you) asked me if I wanted a bottle of champage on ice for when we got back from our meal, this was such a nice touch and as promised was on ice on our return as well as fresh cut flowers which was such a nice and appreciated touch. The pod looked amazing at night with the well lit path and outside lights. The pods are set in beautiful gardens in easy reach of the main house but the far enough away to make you feel you have complete privacy. The heating in the pod makes them so cosy and would expel any non campers fears of waking up chilly. glamping at its best! In the morning after a amazing nights sleep on the really comfortable bed. Julia had arranged for us to have our breakfast outside the conservatory. The beautiful layed lawns and country style garden was in full bloom and it was a perfect sunny day ,what more could you ask for except an amazing full breakfast which was cooked to perfection.

I really cant say enough about this place and coudnt help show my wife around the bed and breakfast, its such a stunning house with such character and Julia clearly has the eye of a intererior designer, country chique at its best. The attentive service and uniqueness of this bed and breakfast really puts to shame some of the larger hotels who charge so much more. We have allready recomended this venue to two of my close friends who are looking for somewhere to get married.

We will be back soon.

Thanks Julia

“Lovely Break in a beautiful house full of character and charm.”

Stayed for 2 nights to be in area for attending a wedding at Rowton Castle. Our host Julia was very attentive and friendly. The house is definately a star in its own right. The character oak beams and floors give the rooms a real traditional country welcome. Our room (with 4 poster bed) was very comfortable, and there were lots of nice little touches like fresh roses around the room, country house magazines lying about and individual packs of paper hankerchiefs which were thoughtful and welcome. Julia makes a lovely breakfast from local produce which was delicious. We were also treated to a tour of the gardens and grounds to inspect the future intended campsite. We will certainly look forward to returning and taking advantage of that service when it is up and running. A lovely stay. Thank you Julia, Sam and Mum. And further thanks for going the extra mile and giving us a lift to the wedding venue. Very helpful and appreciated.

“Delightful B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

We stayed here for one night with friends for a wedding at Rowton Castle and felt that the overall experience was fantastic. Julie could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The house from the outside is fantastic and it gets better once inside! I have never stayed in a B&B with as much character. We were running slightly late so we drove to the castle straight from the B&B which was only a five minute journey away so perfect for weddings at the castle. We were then offered a lift in the morning to collect our car from the castle which saved us a lot of money from taxi's.
The next morning we were served a great, homemade, fresh breakfast and were made to feel relaxed and at home. We were given lots of information about Shrewsbury and surrounding areas. Overall we would suggest this B&B to anyone for any occasion.
