“Great location but what is up with 18" TV”

If you are just there to ski, it's a great location. If there is anything you want to watch on TV, forget it. We stayed in 406, a 2 BR lofted condo. The otherwise great living room had an 18 inch TV above the fireplace. Not only too small to see but also low resolution. Hot tub was not well maintained.

“Great family ski trip.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We just returned from a 5 day stay in unit #402. This is a 2 bedroom plus loft unit. The master bedroom has a king sized bed. Fair warning-it is actually 2 twins with a converter and if you like very firm beds you will certainly enjoy this one. There is a master bath with a tub/shower. The second bedroom consists of 2 twin beds. Another full bathroom with a tub/shower is located across the hall from this bedroom. The loft contains another king sized bed exactly like the one in the master bedroom. There's another full bathroom off of the living room with a separate tub and shower. The kitchen has nice appliances and is appointed with plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware. Cookware and cooking utensils are very basic. There was detergent for the dishwasher, but no dishwashing soap. We bought some in the store downstairs. There is a coffee maker and filters, but you need to bring your own coffee and supplies. TV with cable is in each bedroom, loft and living room. We did have some small issues with using the remote control in the living room. There is a gas fireplace in the living room and one in the master bedroom. These are on timers that go up to a max of 30 minutes at a time. There are two tiny balconies-one off of the living room and one off of the dining area (adjacent to the living room). I believe they're called Juliette balconies? They aren't really big enough to stand out on, but it's nice to open the doors and look out at what's going on outside in front of the building. The dining table is large, and I believe there were 6 chairs...we used the breakfast bar mostly, which is large and has 4 barstools. There is a washer/dryer in the unit, but is locked up and not for renters' use. The walls are quite thin. We could hear a lot of noise from our neighbors and on the first night the room below us complained that we were making a lot of noise from 1 am to 5 am. I am sorry that they were bothered, but swear on the life of my first born child that no one was up in our unit during those hours.

The building itself is not beautiful or fabulous, but definitely nice enough. There is guest laundry, which consists of 1 stacked washer/dryer. The hot tub and sauna is kind of grungy looking, but seemed fine. Certainly nothing to write home about. The restaurant turned out to be a bright spot for us. Good food and our waitress was excellent. We had one lunch and one dinner there. The ski locker attendants were also excellent. They were very nice and super helpful. The location of these condos is absolutely the best part. It is literally steps from the lift and ski school.

We rented unit #402 through Taos Ski Valley Properties. We did receive instructions for our arrival, but did not receive any instruction for departure. The lady at the front desk said that we should remove our trash and wash our dishes, which I guessed was the case. She told us to leave our keys with her. If we have the opportunity to go again (and I hope we do) we will likely rent through the condos themselves. We were supposed to contact the rental company with anything we needed instead of the front desk, which just doesn't make good sense to me.

Overall, the experience was great and everyone had a fabulous time!

“The best location and value for ski clubs group vacations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Roger Mariani the Snakedance Condo GM and his wife are wonderful hosts. We came in as part of a ski club and they invited us for dinner down to their home in the valley for
appetizers, dinners and drinks. We also got to take in the Rio Grande River Gorge bridge, though I wish we got there 15 minutes earlier. They also provided a complimentary Hor d'oeuvres, beer and wine the first night.

You can't beat the location. It's the very best in Taos, 10 yards from the main lift, with a boot and ski room to get rid of your skis and boots on the way back. On the way from the airport they stopped at a major Safeway supermarket so we loaded up on wines and breakfast items. The condos are stocked with all the basic cooking utensils needed for ski trips.

They even provide complimentary shuttles to visit Taos 30 minutes away. Sign up early availability is limited.

When I go back to Taos it's the only place I want to stay at.

“New Mexico. Truly a land of enchantment!”

Pittsburgh ski club booked with the Snakedance owners Roger and Diane. A Snakedance shuttle bus was waiting for us at the Albuquerque airport. We did not have to touch our luggage again until we got into our condo. The hotel/condos are literally steps from the lift. We all received Snakedance fleece vests at the welcome reception and were made to feel right at home. Our two bedroom condo with BALCONIES faced the lift and our bedrooms/bath were a bit smaller than some of the other rooms. It was fun watching the ski patrol & rescue dog get ready to board the lifts very EARLY each morning. The employees in the Snakedance ski locker were very friendly and helpful. One evening the Snakedance shuttle took us out into the desert to have dinner at Roger and Diane's home. They were the epitome of graciousness and everyone had a great time. On the way there, the driver stopped at the bridge over the Rio Grande river so we could take pictures and enjoy the sunset upon the Sangue di Cristo (Blood of Christ) Mountains. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous about skiing legendary Taos. I was more than pleasantly suprised and hope to return soon.

Room Tip: Speak directly with hotel/condo.

“Crescent Ski Council Loved Snakedance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

I participated with Crescent Ski Council with 138 participants from Ski Clubs from the Southeast US. Snakedance was everything we were told it would be!! Family run by Roger Mariani and his wife, Diana, and their daughters, I have never stayed at a condo complex where we were literally taken in as part of the Mariani family!!! The units were all very nice and well decorated (all privately owned), housekeeeping was incredible, the front desk was right there for us all week. We had about 90 participants staying at Snakedance and the rest of the group in the Town of Taos at El Pueblo and Roger made sure the shuttles for the El Pueblo group were arranged to get everyone on the mountain for all of our events. I love the fleece vest that Snakedance gives to everyone staying there. It was so great to be temporarily a part of the Mariani family for a week. I highly recommend Snakedance as the place to stay in Taos Ski Valley. Kudos to the Mariani family (and to Travis Weber, Group Sales Director for Taos Ski Valley for getting us to Taos to begin with). Great trip!!!
