“Not a relaxing stay at all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed overnight at Canyon Cove with low expectations due to numerous bad reviews I’ve read here in TA. The room RM228 given to us has the ff. problems: The safety chain is broken. The deadbolt is stuck/not working. The sink is full of dirt. The toilet flush is not working. The garbage can’s cover is broken. Water pressure is low. No hot water in the shower. We called these in with the front desk but after waiting almost half an hour, nobody came to fix these. So we went out to dinner and the front desk staff promised us that all will be fine when we came back. After two hours, the only things that are fixed are the toilet flush and sink, which is now dirt-free.
Since most problems are still not fixed, we requested for a change in room. Guess what? The new room RM220 is so much nicer and in better condition. Nothing to complain about, really.
The driver’s quarter cost P500.00/night. It is located uphill from the guardhouse with no lamppost around. It is so dark, eerie and isolated. The room itself is not in good condition: broken cabinets/drawers, old curtains billowing inside the room, things scattered around. Can you imagine a haunted house? We all had goose bumps going over there. The driver ended up staying in the car instead.

With the first room given to us, I would rank it as terrible. With the second room, I would rank it very good.

“Good beach front resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

For people who need a short relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of city life, this resort is a good place to visit. It has the usual facilities one would look for in a resort, big and nicely designed swimming pool, beautiful view of the Nasugbu beach from the terrace (which every room has) and of course, clear water and white sand beach of Nasugbu. For families and barkadas, this place is suitable indeed since picnic huts are ample and barbecue areas are supplied. The room we stayed in is clean and comfortable and nicely designed. The resort is about 5 minutes ride by car to the city proper of Nasugbu, hence, one could easily drive his way to a local restaurant to have a taste of the local dish. So if you're looking for a weekend break, this resort is ideal since it is just one hour away from Tagaytay via a smooth and well maintained highway. Just a word of caution to those who love to swim on the beach, be careful of the uneven slope of the beach which suddenly goes deep after a few feet away (which is really a characteristic of beaches along the Nasugbu shore) unlike the even beach of Boracay.

One drawback of this resort is that it seems to run out of supplies during peak season. We stayed there last December 18-19, 2011 which was already the Christmas holiday break. I requested for an extra linen bed sheet and towel for my son since only 3 linens and towels were supplied despite the fact that we paid for extra person. I was disappointed when management informed us that there was no extra linen sheet and towel available. I guess its time the resort management purchase extra supplies to anticipate the number of guests flocking so as not to disappoint their guests.

Clean rooms and big swimming pools that this club offers. It offers tour within island and do some snorkling but very expensive to locals. Buffet breakfast is ok but no hot chocolate and butter on that day we visited the place.

“Nice but....”

Since we always go north, My hubby wanted to try a resort in the south. Canyon cove was not as bad as the reviews here except for some minor issues. 1st, my daughter left her snorkel in the lounging chair, the next when we ask the lifeguard on duty, he told us that he saw it but didn't get it coz there are still people in the pool, he doesn't saw it again after that...neither did we =(, 2nd, the staff here especially the cashier there at the resort should know the difference between the wooden cabana & cabana, I ordered our food and pointed to the cashier our wooden cabana so that she'll know where to deliver it, sadly, waited for about an hour then when I went there the girl told me that she already gave the waiter instruction to deliver food, they then searched the waiter, another waiting time, hayz, then finally when they found the waiter he told me that he delivered it to the cabana near the pool...when I asked the waiter why he delivered it to the wrong cabana, he told me that the cabana that we're staying is called wooden cabana, was thinking that it's not the waiters fault, it's the lady cashier's fault since I told her and point it out on her where we are staying. (while I was waiting for the waiter, the cashier from the grill fled, no explanation whatsoever, hmmp). Room service menu is so limited and most of the time out of stock, so we decide to eat out. But the room was nice except for the dirty glass which has a lipstick stain on it (meaning, they did not wash it). Understaffed, they have lots of guest but limited manpower, so be patient. My kids love it there, definitely will come back but really have to bring lots and lots of patience.

“Promising resort with good facilities and big rooms. Plan to eat out.”

I already wasn't expecting much because of the reviews here, but surprisingly, we had a really nice stay.

We went for an overnight family trip the weekend before the Chinese New Year. The resort's lobby has a high ceiling and is fairly big and has a lot of couches. It opens to a veranda overlooking the big pools and the beach, so that part's very welcoming. Since there were lots of guests, they didn't check our bags so we went straight to the rooms after my mom checked us in. We were able to bring in snacks and drinks without any commotion. I saw a guest wanting to bring in two obvious bags of Jollibee take-out heading for the parking lots, so I think he was asked not to bring the food in. I suggest that guests just be very discreet about bringing in food items.

We stayed on one of the 1-bedroom suites in the south wing. There were 7 adults and one child in our party, and the room was enough for us mainly because of the size. There was a terrace, comfortable plush sofa and a window daybed (size comparable to a queen-size bed) in the living room there where was also a flatscreen TV. There was also a dining table, kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator, sink and electric kettle), and toilet room. My three brothers took over this area.

My husband and I with our 15-month old daughter slept in the window daybed in the bedroom. My parents chose to sleep together in one double bed, so there was an extra double bed no one slept in. There was also a terrace in the bedroom. Bathroom had a shower stall and bathtub. Airconditioning was good, as well as the hot water. No bidet in the toilet though, and only four bath towels, so plan ahead. No bugs, chipping paint, or dirty sheets also, so I guess we were lucky as compared to some of the reviewers here. We asked for another roll of toilet paper and it was delivered to our room in less than a minute (we were on the 4th floor). No complaints about the cleanliness or the service from our stay.

Pools are big so it didn't feel crowded at all even if there were lots of guests. And water was lukewarm, which was good since the wind was cool. Beach towels are available (just bring the swimming passes issued with your room key). Lots of seats by the pool area and a few cabanas near the beach. Sand was a bit rocky with the dead corals, but water was clear and cool. Kayaks, jet skis, banana boats, and snorkeling and diving gear are available for rent. My daughter enjoyed frolicking in the kiddie pool and the sand-bottom playground. Pool service for short orders is available. There's also a bar with a videoke area overlooking the pool, near the veranda after the lobby.

We ate at Kainan sa Dalampasigan in the town for dinner. Taste and portions were satisfactory; just as if you ate at Dencio's or Gerry's in Manila, but the ambiance is old rustic antique. I was curious about the breakfast buffet in the hotel because of the reviews so we checked it out. For 300++ until 9am, you get rice, hotdogs, corned beef, omelette, tawilis (not fried but in some kind of thin clear sauce), and dinner rolls. Wow. My dad remarked, "We're here to enjoy. We won't enjoy that." We proceeded to Chowking and had a hearty breakfast with better variety.

Canyon Cove is a 5-min drive away from the town which has Mang Inasal, Chowking, Jollibee, Dunkin Donuts, Mister Donut, Mercury Drug, and 7-11. We'll be back, will just really plan to eat out. :)
