“Return Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I had booked this week-end trip to Shropshire as a gift for my niece and her husband, having stayed here before I knew that they would like it. They were so impressed, they just loved it.
David could not have been more helpful before and during the visit. I had made a mistake when I had submitted my request to booking.com, David rang me to point this out. I found the booking.com site quite confusing (I am a silver surfer!) and I would suggest booking directly with the hotel.
I had asked for an evening meal on the day of our arrival. Unfortunately the chef went sick but David rang me to let me know and he offered to cook a simple meal for us himself. As the trip was intended to e a "treat" for Janet I asked David to recommend a really good restaurant nearby. He not only recommended one but also made the booking for us and ordered a taxi too!
David and his staff made me feel almost as though I was a member of the family there. With the wonderful rooms, beds and bathrooms here I cannot think of anywhere in this part of the country where I would rather stay.
I will be back!

Room Tip: If, like myself, you are disabled, make certain that you chose a room with a shower. The baths are g...

“Perfect for a romantic and chilled out get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

What can I say? We loved it!!!
We saw and heard nothing of the alleged hostility mentioned by previous posters. From booking, up to, and during our stay, everyone who we met seemed to want to go out of their way to offer help/advice and were all so friendly.
The room was gorgeous, clean and comfortable. Lots of amenities and complimentary refreshments/toiletries. The bathroom was WOW! We stayed in the Ludlow room with the long spa bath. It was heaven.
I was worried about staying on the ground floor but I needn't have been worried. It was quiet and felt safe and secure.
The full english breakfast was delicious and huge (beware) and there were lots of cereals yoghurts and jams etc available too.
Thanks for making our (child free) anniversary get away so easy and relaxed and enjoyable.
Recommended most definitely!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Ludlow room but I'd also like to try the one with the 4 poster jacuzzi next time ;0...

“A little bit of luxury and a little bit of home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

My partner and I stayed at the Old Rectory in January 2012 and had a fantastic stay. Even upon calling to book the Manager David was extremely helpful and patient as I was unsure which room to book as they all looked so lovely. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by David who proceeded to make us very welcome by showing us to our room and all the amenities that we had. Our room was very pretty, impeccably clean, smelled fresh and new and provided everything we needed and we felt at home right away. We had booked to eat out at a number of restaurants during our weekend stay which David had very kindly talked me through at our time of booking. Both of these restaurants were superb and we were extremely grateful David had taken the time to recommend them. David offered to book the restaurants on our behalf which I thought was very kind, ordered our taxi and even walked us to the taxi opening the door for me. The next day we had a superb full english breakfast, hearty and well cooked and also on offer was juice, cereal, toast or a choice of alternatives for cooked breakfast. The staff serving breakfast were lovely. Whilst we were out our room was cleaned to the highest standard and as we walked in from a day out the first thing we said was 'the room smells so fantastic'. I cannot stress the standard of cleaning, in a room with white/cream soft furninshings the cleaning standards have to be very good to ensure they continue to look new.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be going back regularly. David is an absolute gentleman and only added to our very enjoyable stay here. I would recommend the Old Rectory to anyone who appreciates luxury and comfort.

“Fantastic - can't fault it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

Just got back from our two night stay at the lovely Old Rectory. We stayed in the Broseley Room which was lovely and very romantic. The room had every thoughtful consideration even had face wipes! Super clean, great value and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly, professional and welcoming (they even gave me a special chocolate as I'm a choc-a-holic!). Breakfast was great too - all served with a smile. Great quiet location - close to Iron Bridge - less than a £4 cab fare. Can't fault the place. I've stayed in hotels that aren't even close to the standard of The Old Rectory. Will return!

Room Tip: Broseley Room was great but from what I could see they all are.

“Lovely Room and Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Overall our stay was lovely. Welcomed by a very friendly lady called Sylvia. David the owner was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble, for him or his staff.
The four poster in our room was so romantic but the room was still homely and the bed so comfortable that i could have slept in. Glad we did get up as breakfast was perfect, with a lot of choice.
The night we arrived the chef was ill so David had booked us into Restaurant 7 - i also recommend this as not only was the food excellant all of the staff were very friendly - what was nice is they didnt rush us at all and allowed each course to go down before bringing the next one.
Overall the hotel was fabulous and just perfect for our anniversary celebration.

Room Tip: Room 1 - great room, great roll top bath, view of the garden - not so good shower but who cares when...
