“Highly recommended”

My wife and I stayed in the Antsirabe paviliion for our honeymoon. The lodge overlooks the pool and it is quite perfect in design, decor and outlook. We enjoyed the fireplace at this time of year finding fresh kindling left for us every day. Aside the from this the overall setting, staff and food are all faultless. It's the perfect retreat if you want to be in touch with nature, enjoy mountain views and to be pampered.

A fantastic 2 day stay in idyllic setting. As a family of 4 had a very spacious "pavilion" with 2 large bedrooms and a sitting room, where a fire was lit for us. Mint tea was brought to us each afternoon and we enjoyed fabulous food in generous portions. The highlight was a guided walk with Latifa to the local pottery and school, followed by a visit to a local house where the girls were delighted to receive henna tattoos. We then had quite a challenging trek to another Berber village where we were welcomed into a house and plied with sage tea and locally gathered walnuts. Altogether a welcome retreat after the bustle of Marrakech.

“Believe the hype”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Found Maroc Lodge on Alistair Sawdays and was convinced by the reviews on tripadvisor. Currently in Marrakech for 2 days having spent 5 days at Maroc Lodge.

This is my 4th trip to Morocco and I have rarely experienced anything as good as Maroc Lodge, not just in morocco but anywhere.

We were spoilt I have to say. We were the only people staying so I am sure this helped, however, from the moment Abdul picked us up at The airport until he brought us to Marrakech we have been treated like royalty.

The accommodation is stunning. Beautiful decor, tasteful and stylish. Friendly welcoming hosts who cannot do enough to make you feel special.

All the staff are brilliant, took time to be friendly and affectionate to our 3 year old.

Latifa the guide was a joy to be around and took us out for a long walk (my 3 tear old had the luxury of a donkey to ride). We stopped for mint tea at someone's house and she took us to a village for lunch in a traditional house. None of which felt in any way 'set up' or 'staged' which so often these things do.

After 4 trips to morocco (mainly staying in Marrakech, essaouira and Agadir - don't ask about Agadir!) I have finally seen what the country is about.

This is thanks in no small part to David, Bruno, Beatrice, Latifa & Abdul.

It's just a shame I can only give a 5 and not more.

“Beautiful, quiet and relaxing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

Maroc Lodge was everything we had hoped it would be and more. After spending some hectic days is Marrakech, it was a perfect place to rest and relax. The accommodation is wonderful. We had a 1 bedroom cottage/chalet with a balcony overlooking the pool and the mountain. We had our breakfast there, which was just perfect. The furniture, bathroom (separate room for the toilet) and bed linen were all first class. It is both heated and air conditioned, which is a big advantage when staying in the mountains. They do have a computer available for use free of charge at any time, which is very convenient.

We had our lunches by the pool at whatever time we wanted. And yes the pool is very cold so we did not venture in. All of the meals we had were absolutely delicious and home cooked thanks to Beatrice.

The lodge sent a taxi to Marrakech to pick us up, which was very convenient and then arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport. When we were in Marrakech, Bruno had arranged for Latifa to be our guide for a day and she was delightful.
The lodge is situated fairly close to several Berber villages and there is a weekly market close by on Tuesdays.

Bruno, David and Beatrice made us feel as if we were their personal guests at their private estate. You don’t find that very often.

Would we go back? Absolutely!

I booked this hotel for our honeymoon and was a bit worried since my wife had had the worst holiday of her life in Morocco. I booked it because it looked nice and also because of the many good reviews on this website. Not disappointed - the place is perfect for a quiet, comfotable and private holiday. The owners and staff are unstinting in their concern for your well being - our flight was delayed - we arrived at 3am (Avoid Royal Air Maroc if you can) - and not only was the hotel-organised taxi still at the airport but Bruno, one of the owners of the hotel was up and about to welcome us when we got there at 4am! The Maroc Lodge is excellently situated with four or five 'lodges' (little houses) around a small but perfect swimming pool. The service was excellent and very friendly - staying at Maroc Lodge feels like you are staying with friends. My partner is pregnant and we felt very happy with the standard of the food and hygiene. And - if you do stay here, be sure to ask for Latifa, the local guide, to take you into the hills or down to the market in Amizmiz.
