“Our own piece of paradise”

When we stayed at Maroc Lodge in August 2011, we were very lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. We felt spoiled by the wonderful surroundings, beautiful room, seclusion and privacy and the wonderful service. The grounds are amazing: lush and green; the view of the Amizmiz Valley breathtaking and 4 different pavilions are large and private. We took advantage of both lunches and dinners at the lodge and it was the best food throughout our trip. Intrigued by all the positive reviews, we decided to also go on a tour to Berber villages with Latifa, the guide recommended by David and Beatrice (the owners). What a wonderful and enlightening trip it was! Tailored to our needs, informative and allowing a glimpse into the lives of the locals without feeling hassled. Highly recommended to everyone!

Everything at Maroc Lodge was wonderful, from the transfer to the hotel to the bottle of own olive oil we received as a parting gift. Many thanks to David, Beatrice and all the staff!

“Beautiful, peaceful, but also a great way to see the real Morocco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

Maroc Lodge was wonderful. Absolutely stunning gardens which the owners take a great pride in quite rightly. The service and our apartment could simply not have been better. the pool is gorgeous as is the decor - something special.
But the highlight of our trip here was going out walking in the surrounding hills and villages. Maroc Lodge has good links with great local guides. Our guide - Omar - took us out to see berber villages and experience the hospitality of some of the frinedliest people you could meet. Not at all "touristy", a great enjoyable experience. My seven year old loved being on the donkey. What an adventure - we would definitely go back to Maroc Lodge.
We founf Morrocco enormously welcoming and friendly and hope to be back soon.

“Perfect”

Maroc Lodge isn't what you'd expect from a hotel. Its a series of small bungalows arranged around a pool with extensive gardens and a small restaurant. We stayed in the two bedroom bungalow as a family of 4 with children, 13 and 10yrs. Everything about our stay was perfect. Our bungalow was very spacious and felt very much like a home rather than a hotel. The meals and service were wonderful. Breakfast was served to our terrace consisting of fresh bread, crumpets, pancakes, pomegranate and honey so fresh it still hummed. We took lunch in the shade of the trees by the pool and dinner in the restaurant.
Our hosts, Bruno, David and Beatrirce were very welcoming, be sure to ask Bruno the fascinating story of Maroc Lodge and how his father saved the life of the King.
When we weren't lazing by the pool we took the services of Latifer, a local guide who tool us trekking through the local villages on foot and on mule. We also took a trip further up the mountains and had tea with friends of Latifer in their mountain village home. The lady of the house took a shine to my youngest daughter declaring her to be a Berber child descended from heaven to bring the household good luck.
I'd thoroughly recommend Maroc Lodge to anyone who likes venturing off the beaten track, but still enjoys staying in luxury. Maroc Lodge is very suitable for children, our two enjoyed it as much as we did. Whether you stay by the pool enjoying the gardens, or venture out into the countryside you will thoroughly enjoy your stay here. I intend to return.

Room Tip: Be sure to visit the local market on Tuesdays.

“relaxed luxury and superb service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

David and Beatrice are consummate hosts. Very attentive and genial and their attention to detail is fabulous. This has obviously rubbed off on their staff who we found both charming and very efficient. We stayed for 4 days (April 2011) with our 8 month old daughter and could not have had a nicer stay. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had the extra things we needed for our daughter, such as a thermos of hot water for her milk and they even sourced a plastic tub so that we could give her baths rather than showers! Our chalet was beautifully appointed, the bed comfy and lots of space. Although we spent most of our time round the pool, we took the opportunity to go on a short (90 minute) walk with Latifa, a local guide recommended by David. She was wonderful and took us to see a local chap making tagines, and also to a Berber household to see bread being made. Everyone seemed to know her and she seemed to know a lot of local history. We would have liked to have gone on a longer walk but she was already booked up. Finally the food was amazing! We were told the menu for lunch and supper each day and took it either on our balcony or in the restaurant. It was helpful that it wasn't too far from the airport (1 hour) for our early departure, although it felt like we were miles from anything. All in all, a fabulous break and pretty special place.

Room Tip: once a month one of the chalets is at half price!
