This self catering B&B cottage overlooking a green Kentish valley in the countryside was perfect for our family of 4. We received a warm welcome from our host Cathy and their lovely dog Bernie. We stayed in "the Chickenshed", a light stylish renovated barn with the kitchen cupboards and fridge full of supplies to prepare our own traditional English breakfast. Having a washing machine in the kitchen was an unexpected little bonus.
For those of you who enjoy staying in the countryside, like to wake up early to see rabbits on the lawn outside the cottage, and within easy reach of all the beautiful stately homes, manors and castles of Kent, and Europe's biggest fabulous shopping mall "Bluewater" this is the perfect spot.
We had the absolute delight to stay at The Chicken Shed for the month of July 2011. This accommodation is second to none, and that is the beginning. Arriving with two children from Australia, one with special needs, Cathy was very conscious of our need to let our daughter to have some space to settle down after our long flight.
The cottage itself was fabulous! We were able to settle in and make it like home sraight away. Cathy and Steve and their one little boy Frank were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Our little boy had so much fun with Frank and the facilities were in my view world class for a family holiday.
Nothing was too much trouble for Cathy or Steve and emails that we needed for our daily excurions were printed and left in our cottage for when we were ready to experience all England had to offer.
There is a special type of person that can run a successful business like this and make it personal to the visiting guests and the family at this establishment are the epitome of this standard.
I could not rate this place higher and I think Steve, Cathy, their three lovely boys and all at Beechfield Cottages deserve all the praise possible for their care and warmth. I will look forward to contacting them in the future should we ever get back to England.
Thank you for making our stay so truly memorable.
We stayed at the Railway Cottage. From start to finish, this was a nice relaxing visit. The accommodation had everything one would expect from a bed and breakfast, plus lots more. The fresh flowers, fruits, biscuits and drinks were a lovely touch. There was even spare toothbrushes provided which was fantastic for me as I had forgotten mine.
The couple of hours in the afternoon that we had in the cottage before attending a function nearby was lovely and quiet. It was a really sunny day which showed the true beauty of the place. There is a short drive from the main road down a narrow single track to reach the cottages, which can be a little nervy for first time visitors, but it's not far down the track, about a minute drive to reach the cottages. It was lovely and quiet sat outside on the pation in the evening, not much noise at all. Plus we had a great sleep in a huge bed. Would definitely recommend this gem.
Excellent facilities. Fantastic warm & friendly welcome. Very well equipped almost better than home!! Can't wait to return
