Made a big mistake. The Mandrem beach is nice, but it has less number of hotels and this place seemed OK from Tripadvisor, so we made a booking. Overall, the accommodation was very sub-standard. The toilet seat almost broke everytime I used it (and I am not overweight)- rooms were small- the fan made so much noise that you almost couldn't hear your voice and the airconditioner didn't work. This is really sub-standard accommodation to be paying 40 AUD per night for. The Mandrem beach resort looked really nice- they didn't have any availability when we were there, should have booked ahead. There are probably better options around - the beach is really nice and less crowded, don't spoil your stay with this hotel. However, the restaurant here prepares quite decent Indian food- so you can come here for a meal.

* The Cuba Retreat is tucked away 100 metres from the gorgeous beach at Mandrem. It was the end of the season so very few guests but the staff there were helpful, friendly and relaxed.
* The room was spotlessly clean, good air con, comfortable bed and a nice little outside area.
* The garden was lovely, hammocks and nice plants.
* The food was really good and there was a good selection of drinks.
* This place was in a prefect location for a relaxing time.

This place is cheap and maybe we had been spoilt by staying at nice places beforehand.

Room is basic, lots of mosquitos but to be fair the staff did give us mozzie burners when we told them.

Personally though, whatever the price I pay I like towels and bed sheets that are clean so you don't have to sleep in your clothes and use your beach towel over your pillow.

Also had breakfast here and was one of the worst things we ate in Goa.

Mandrem beach is fantastic though, highly recommend and if your doing Goa on the cheap then this place was 850 rupees a night with aircon

Starting visiting Mandrem about 5 years ago staying at the Prazares place then 2 years ago found this place wonderful.
Its a small place located close to everywhere but very peaceful.We had a Ac Room which was lovely and clean with nice fittings.The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you.The meals were excellent,although the waiter was a bit of an oddball.
We are already booked for a return visit, if you are visiting Mandrem and do not fancy the Huts this is a good alternative.
