“peace and beauty in a lovely little corner of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

It was such a pleasure staying at the Kohala Country Adventures Guesthouse among the fruit trees, looking out at the gardens, and listening to the birdsong. Walking up and down the road and exploring from Hawi to the Pololu Valley, I discovered that the birds sang most joyously at Bobi's place. I truly felt I was part of nature in Hawaii there. There was even a view down to the blue, blue ocean. We were comfortable in our cozy room and noticed that the one above us looked splendid and had such fabulous views! You could walk into Kapaau or drive into Hawi in minutes, where the local coffee shop was a gathering place full of aloha and good food. I wished I could stay longer and get to know Bobi a little more.

“We enjoyed the aloha of this friendly, warm guesthouse.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2010

We just really enjoyed the hospitality and warmth of Bobbi Moreno's guesthouse in Kohala. It is easily found just up the street in Kapa au, from the King Kamehameha statue. The place is located on acres of rolling green hillside, and the guesthouse itself is a delight with lots of color and flowers.

“Hawaiian bucolic. Great intro to the most beautiful part of the Big Is.”

We had the garden room. Totally comfy queen size bed, with additional twin available. Fridge, Satt-tv both worked well. Large (long) black jacuzzi tub worked although I was more interested in just stretching out in a big tub. Small table for two looks out into a lazy cow pasture with the ocean looming above the trees, in the distance. Very quiet. Separate entrance with small porch/ table/ chairs etc. Bobi has landscaped and planted a beautiful piece of land. Extraordinary colors and shapes, very nice environment. This is not a B&B. No breakfast served, but, for us, this was not an issue. The privacy, peacefulness and attractive surroundings beat Costco croissants, grade C eggs, and questionable coffee anytime. (We made our own coffee in our room.) Furthermore there is a cool little place to get local coffee and ambiance just down the road.
Great place. inhabitants of Ka'pau and Hawi are living a wonderful life. Bobi's guest house is a perfect place to start.

“A stay at the northern tip of the Big Island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2010

We ended our visit to the Big Island with a 4 night stay at this guest house. We were in the largest unit and had a wonderful view of Maui from the deck. The sunsets were beautiful and the bird songs in the morning were wonderful. It is very quiet here and we enjoyed our stay. The unit is very spacious and Bobi is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed her gardens and loved having a place to stay in this part of the Island. We could hike to the Pololu Valley and beyond early in the morning without a long drive (beautiful sunrise). We were also lucky enough to catch a wonderful lecture at the library (we could walk to it) on Captain James Cook. Next lecture is March 8, 2010. The beach parks at this part of the Island are beautiful. It was a great way to end our trip, very relaxing. We also had a great meal at Luke's ( in Hawi) - with a coupon we got a 50% discount.

“It is a real treasure for lots of reasons!”

Since 2001, Silence and I have left the Colorado in January for a week at a fancy island resort followed by the peace and beauty of the Kahala Country Adventures Guesthouse. Last week we enjoyed Maui’s Grand Hyatt. The previous years included resorts like Kauai’s Princeville, Lanai's Manele Bay, and the Big Island’s Orchid. But we always look forward to Bobi’s hospitality here in Kapaau! It seems like all the locals in this region know and love her. She has been servicing travelers since 1998. Nobody is in business that long unless customers are delighted with the facilities and pleased with the price. Guest books on her table testify to the great satisfaction of visitors, many of whom return year after year. Bobi is aware of only one nasty, belligerent report. I suspect that a sour disposition or the splendid Hawaiian drinks must be to blame; the woman stayed four nights. As I type, I’m looking out our room’s big picture window at colorful blossoms and lush vegetation. All sorts of birds are calling. Guests are chatting in the sunshine by the cars. I’m wishing we didn’t have to fly back to the mainland this evening! - Nat Weeks [--]
