“fourth stay at this special find ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

a true gem of a hawaiian experience! bobi moreno has created a unique big island treasure with a variety of accomodations, all clean, cozy, private and equipped with just the right balance of fun hawaiiana and modern comforts to give you the feeling of being a guest in her home in this very special corner of hawaii. each room offers comfy bedding, clean baths and small kitchen facilities ( refrig. and microwave ... ), smatterings of local ( including bobi's own! ) artwork, reading materials, etc ... in a spectacular tropical garden setting, rich in specimen trees, orchids, bromiliads, gardenias, gingers, papayas, lemons, oranges, avocados, pinapples, etc ... all for the picking! the minute we arrive, we feel like we are home and bobi and her family do everything they can to ensure that.
this is a very speciall place indeed and anyone seeking the "real" hawaii and true "aloha spirit" need look no further than the kohala country adventures guest house.
if you are looking for the "real" hawaii and the true spirit of aloha,

“Great setting, but the place has seen better days”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

The Guesthouse is in a great setting: a wonderful garden with avocado trees, the ocean in the background. The design of the interior of our room was very nice.
Furniture and equipment of the room were good, but a little old. You couldn't lock the door, since the rest of a key was stuck in there (obviously someone accidentally broke his key off). The bathroom would have needed some remodeling many years ago, and the bathtub was clogged. Windows hadn't been cleaned for a while, and a cockroach came by for a visit (it is fair to say that in the tropics, this stuff can happen).
We strongly suggest some improvements, then the place would be a great place to stay. We're not sure whether the owner, who was away at the time of our visit, is really familiar with the situation.

I am very grateful for all of the enthusiastic ,happy reviews we have received over our twelve years hosting guests from all over the world.. I certainly appreciate people taking the time to give us constructive comments so we can continue to offer "Country Adventures" guests a charming, comfortable place to explore the unique treasures of our incredibly beautiful North Kohala. I apologize that I wasn't available to solve these situations immediately since I was on a rare vacation during the time these guests were here! The lock was a bit sticky but has been corrected; the jacuzzi tub was cleared as soon as my cleaning help learned of the situation. We are happy to report neither issue has ever been a problem before or since.
We have lots of tropical trees and flowers around, and North Kohala can be breezy, even windy at times. The Garden Room has lots of windows with lovely views. Even though we can dust and clean the glass, sometimes within a short time, it must be done again. Recently we put in a pretty new sink and counter space in the bathroom, gave the room a new coat of paint, and put in new window blinds. We don't use harsh chemicals, so occasionally, we do see a tropical surprise invader. I am "on call" 24/7 should there be any concern, since we aim to create wonderful memories!! Mahalo for keeping us informed with good advice so we can serve you better!

“peace and beauty in a lovely little corner of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

It was such a pleasure staying at the Kohala Country Adventures Guesthouse among the fruit trees, looking out at the gardens, and listening to the birdsong. Walking up and down the road and exploring from Hawi to the Pololu Valley, I discovered that the birds sang most joyously at Bobi's place. I truly felt I was part of nature in Hawaii there. There was even a view down to the blue, blue ocean. We were comfortable in our cozy room and noticed that the one above us looked splendid and had such fabulous views! You could walk into Kapaau or drive into Hawi in minutes, where the local coffee shop was a gathering place full of aloha and good food. I wished I could stay longer and get to know Bobi a little more.

“We enjoyed the aloha of this friendly, warm guesthouse.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2010

We just really enjoyed the hospitality and warmth of Bobbi Moreno's guesthouse in Kohala. It is easily found just up the street in Kapa au, from the King Kamehameha statue. The place is located on acres of rolling green hillside, and the guesthouse itself is a delight with lots of color and flowers.

“Hawaiian bucolic. Great intro to the most beautiful part of the Big Is.”

We had the garden room. Totally comfy queen size bed, with additional twin available. Fridge, Satt-tv both worked well. Large (long) black jacuzzi tub worked although I was more interested in just stretching out in a big tub. Small table for two looks out into a lazy cow pasture with the ocean looming above the trees, in the distance. Very quiet. Separate entrance with small porch/ table/ chairs etc. Bobi has landscaped and planted a beautiful piece of land. Extraordinary colors and shapes, very nice environment. This is not a B&B. No breakfast served, but, for us, this was not an issue. The privacy, peacefulness and attractive surroundings beat Costco croissants, grade C eggs, and questionable coffee anytime. (We made our own coffee in our room.) Furthermore there is a cool little place to get local coffee and ambiance just down the road.
Great place. inhabitants of Ka'pau and Hawi are living a wonderful life. Bobi's guest house is a perfect place to start.
