“It is cheap but not very clean”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

We slept there for 1 night in June. We paid 13 euros the night (apartment for 5, price per person) so it was really cheap. But the price is similar to other places in Croacia and this one was the worst one. The aparment wasn't very clean and the instalations are old, old, old. The water of the pool was green, even though the weather was hot enough (29 degrees) to get in (may be in plain summer is cleaner). To Korcula old town you have to walk around 20 minutes, but it is a nice walk. If you choose these apartments don't expect nothing but, I mean, if you stay there you will survive!!!! so don't panick!!!! Although it was the worst place we stayed during our holidays, we still had a great time in Korcula.

“very run down and noisy!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2007

I stayed in the Bon Repos apartment with 2 friends, we are all in our 30's. We were supposed to be in the hotel but the room was so small and poorly maintained we complained and they moved us to an apartment, this was more spacious but still basic and poorly maintained. The toilet seat was broken, it was very dark, not much storage space and the cleaning of it tended to be very haphazard, we did not always get towels, toilet rolls or beds made. In fairness when we complained it was dealt with. It was also very hot in the apartments so a fan is essential. There is no safe in the apartments or hotel and the apartments are very easy to get into so be careful with your belongings, two english girls were moved to an apartment next to ours as there was broken into.

We also found it very noisy, there were lots of children and teenagers around and they were up late and then up early in the morning. We did complain about loud music at 7am but nothing really got dealt with by the hotel, they did not seem concerned, so we had to speak to them ourselves.

Breakfast is a pretty basic affair but OK, although you can get attacked by wasps, I was stung on my hand. We never tried dinner as the reports from other diners was not positive and it is cheap to eat in town.

I would advise buying a lilo or something to lie on as the beach is shingle and dirty and the pool has few sunbeds and is crowded so we sunbathed on the concrete around the sea which was fine. The sea is gorgeous and we also went scuba diving which was well run by an english couple next to hotel.

The water taxis to the old town were reliable and cheap, these were our lifeline to a decent meal and some shopping. I would not bother too much with the canoeing or buggy trips unless desparate to do so as they are not a whole day, starting at 10 back at the hotel by 3, you also can spend quite a substantial part of the trip in bars or cafes waiting.

Overall a very pretty country, great sea, although the hotel is of a poor quality but it can be endured as it is cheap, although not cheap enough!

“Avoid these apartments - awful - But hotel rooms OK”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2006

Arrivng at the hotel we were shown to a tiny one-bedroom apartment for our family of four, despite having booked a two bed one. At Reception I met a lady complaining about the same thing (as the fortnight developed we learned that this seems to be standard practice!). After some debate we were given the 2 bed apartment we should have had originally, but it was still VERY GRIM - dark, poorly equipped, stained beds, broken equipment (chairs, for example). Slept there the first night thinking it would look better in the morning but it didn't! We couldn't have stayed there for 2 nights let alone 2 weeks.
Spent a morning negotiating with travel company and hotel reception trying to be moved and were eventually given two rooms in hotel on a B&B basis - and the holiday started to look a lot better! Jasmin and Cedar seem to be the best blocks to stay in. Cedar has sea views but music from beach bar carries (see later). Jasmin has small mini bar fridge. Cedar slightly bigger rooms, Jasmin slightly more modern fittings. Cedar mainly Italian (so you feel more 'on holiday' ), Jasmin mainly English families. We stayed in Cedar, the other 'moved' family in Jasmin and we were all happy.
For reference, it didn't affect us but we heard the rep tell a family not to eat at the hotel as the food was awful, but there's no need to anyway. Just take the water taxi (£3 for 2 adults, 2 children) over to Korcula Town where there are lots of restaurants - we recommend Doris (facing the taxi dock), Luna (on the harbour) and Millenium (up on the walls). The ride back is lovely past all the lit up yachts.
Back to the hotel...the pool is clean (water changed weekly), there's beach bar music until 11.00 (but it does go off then) and daily maid service in the rooms. The tiny beach is busy but it's not too tricky to find yourself a quiet spot to pitch a sunbed on one of the terraces. Milk bar by beach very cheap for lunches. Bar by Dive School very cold beer and good barbeque for lunch. Dive school well run by English people (Dupin Dive Centre - find on internet)
Incidentally, we learned from a local that troops were stationed in the apartments during the conflict. Looking at them you can believe it's true and nothing's changed since!
The last word has to go to one of the hotel managers who, whilst showing me the hotel room we were being offered said 'the apartments are shoddy and no-one cares about them'. Says it all, I think!!

“Grim !”

We stayed in the Bon Repos apartments, thinking they were actually in Korcula old town. This is not the case - they are a long hot dusty 30 minute walk around the coast. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, they resemble a concrete prison camp. We had no hot water for the entire week - nobody seemed to care! We could use the hotel facilities (sports / restaurant / bar) but these were bleak and depressing. The beach was very near - but was a very overcrowded man-made 2 foot wide stretch of sand where everbody laid side by side. If you rolled over you were on top of your neighbour. It was possible to get to Korcula by the water taxi, which was fun for the kids but increased the cost of the holiday - and Korcula old town itself was great. On the plus side there were boat trips and pedalos to hire - and the children really loved playing with the mangy stray cats that over-ran the site. If you visit Korcula my advice is to pay out for one of the hotels in the old town - avoid Bon Repos at all costs!

  • Liked — The water taxi to the old town
  • Disliked — The industrial feel of the concrete apartments
