“If you want to try a typical French Chateau, this is one of them”

We have booked for a 4 nights trip to Chateau de Mirambeau in August 2011. The hotel is exactly as you see on their website. The building is very well maintained, the rooms are large and beautifully decorated. Regarding the spa, it is worth mentioning they have two big swiming pools (both indoor and outdoor).

Chateau Mirambeau also offer a gourmet dinner along with a great wine list. However, when staying longer periods I suggest you also try the restaurants from closer villages / cities (the receptionist can offer some recommendations). Breakfast was also good, but the choice was too limited for the price they charge.

Overall, Mirambeau is an excellent place to base your tour of the Bordeaux wine regions while experiencing a grande chateau.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This is the most elegant chateau that we stayed in on our 2 week trip to france. The restaurant was amazing. The room was beautiful as well as comfortable. The grounds were beautiful. At bedtime there was a knock at the door and a lovely tray of sweets and a bouquet of roses was delivered along with a note from the manager hoping that we enjoyed our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. There is an amazing spa and pool as well.

“A traditional style chateau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

A friend of mine and I did a girls road trip and stayed at Chateau de Mirambeau. It has all the makings of a beautiful chateau. Each of us had a gorgeous suite and a beautiful view of the grounds. This chateau is nice to stay at if you like the traditional style with an old fashioned feel. The website shows the overall look of the rooms. It was extremely quiet when we were there, as it was mid week. Not much to do with places nearby...but we enjoyed taking road trips in the car and checking out the countryside and wineries. There was a couple there with two large dogs. The chateau didn't seem like the place to have dogs...not sure about their policy on that one.

Loved everything about this chateau! It's a beautiful place, with gorgeous rooms and tasty breakfast.

I reviewed it on my website at http://mybeautifulparis.com/explore/view/10. Please feel free to take a peek.

Thank you Chateau de Mirambeau for giving me such an amazing three days!

“An experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We booked this as our 5 year old wanted to be a princess for the night. I was a little disappointed you don't get the sweeping drive and wow factor when you arrive as the best view of the building is at the back where you have to walk to see it. The grounds are super though. Check in was excellent, very attentive and came out to the car to get the bags... They won't hear of you helping! They called our daughter princess every time they greeted her which she loved.
The rooms are amazing, very ostentatious and over the top.. As you would hope in a castle!
There is no tea and coffee making facility in your room which was disappointing... And it's €7 to have it brought up!
We asked for an iron and board but they would not allow as they said it was a health and safety risk... But of course they could charge us for them to do it. I had quite a few items to do so this would have proved very costly so I went without.
Also they park the car for you and take your key and try to discourage you from going to your car and say they will bring it round to the front door for you instead... I only wanted some shoes out of the car and this seemed such a hassle. We felt very controlled, that it was their way or no way! I suppose I am too independent and should have tried to chill and let them wait on me!
The dinner was amazing and service was perfect, breakfast choice was limited and service slow.
The pool was the best we have ever used at a hotel. It was spotless, lots of towels and reclining seats and the whirlpool effect in the water was such fun.
Another thing to note, they have no chef on a Monday and therefore no lunch or evening meal is available at the hotel. We stayed sunday and monday night so this was a shame. The restaurant they recommended was half an hour drive and didn't take bookings til 7.30pm which with a 1 year old and a 5 year old wasn't very practical so we got bread, cheese and pate from the local super U and had a picnic in the room.
Overall a lovely stay with just a few niggles, which you don't expect when you are paying such a lot of money for a suite.
Would we go again... No not to stay but definately for lunch or dinner.
