I went to New Life Hiking Spa

My experience at New Life Hiking Spa was a good one. It is a good value for the money. I was just there last month (June 2008), Yes, some of the hikes are on roads, but they also offer two other hikes everyday and those are up the mountains for those who can make it! Great massages and yoga classes.

Sally, how many days did you stay there? Did you follow the busy schedule all day that I see on their website? And, is it primarily for people who want to lose weight and learn a new lifestyle, or are there participants (who don't need to lose weight) who just want to have a great time and be at an active spa? Any more details would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I was there for 9 days and three massages were included. Best massages I have ever had in my life!

I only did everything they offer about 2 of the days. I purchased extra massages because they were so good.

I'd say 1/2 are there to lose weight and the other half to just have a good spa vacation. They have other stuff that is not on the website, trips to stores and some Vermont sites. If you are not there for weight loss, talk to Jimmy the director and he will give you lots of good, healthy snacks for your room, but don't ask for them in the dining room! He gave me a big bag of granola and dried fruit. The hotel is a bit dated, but for $239 a night I thought it was a good deal, that included food, 3 massages, room and classes. I usually pay around $200 just for the room when I go on vacation!

Hi. What did you think of the classes? I would like to go somewhere (and get back in shape) with yoga or pilates, aerobics - that sort of thing. one of the other posts was pretty negative. thanks for your thoughts.

My husband and I booked 10 days at the New Life Hiking Spa in June 2009, but left after only three days. The hotel that hosts the spa is dowdy (see TripAdvisor comments on Inn of the Six Mountains). The exercise classes are in a tent (with a floor but no a/c) outside on the lawn, except for cooking classes, which are inside. Although I checked in advance to ensure that meals would accomodate my husband's special diet, and was told that they would, when the menu included things he could not eat the option was simply to have it removed from the plate without substituting something else. None of the hikes were from the property -- all required a van trip. The hikes I took (beginner and intermediate) were on roads with traffic, so we often had to walk single file on the side. That said, there were many return guests there. It is, however, not a place I could recommended.
