Would like to know if you had any results on Diamonds dream of Zanzibar? As you mentioned has got a good special going. Would like to know if it is worth it? Mapenzi beach club also good special but not good reviews on it.

To African Daydreamer, thanks, did help somewhat as I went to the Planhotels website to get some additional information, still leaves me with lots of questions though...Given that the resort is new I'm assuming the conditions of the hotel and facilities will be good. However, can anyone provide any feedback on the beach? Is there easy access to the beach (travelling with a 1.5 year old so dont want steep ledge/steps etc). What is the quality of the beach? looking for a good quality beach with limited coral/urchins once again because i have a small child...any feedback will greatly assist...

Hi, yes being a new hotel all the facilities would be new and fantastic. The beach is nice the only thing that I do not like about the beach in that area is all of the touts, the second you step onto the beach they swarm to you trying to sell you stuff which can be a bit annoying. I am not terribly sure if there are steps down to their beach. The last time I was in that area there were not too many sea urchins and at low tide if you walk out there is coral but when high tide is in swimming is not a problem. Hope this has helped a little more

Thanks, yes that helps a great deal!! last question - are there other hotels in the area? maybe within walking distance...just in case we decide to brave the touts but then the food is awful!!

Yes there are quite a number of hotels along that stretch so you definitely won't be stuck in the middle of nowhere :) Apparently it is supposed to be a really lovely hotel, so I hope you enjoy your holiday!!

I'm also considering Dream of Zanzibar. The brochure on Plan hotel website looks good. Do you know if their food is Halaal? And how does it compare to Gemma Del Est?
