I hear its snowing and raining in Vegas at the moment.
I am visiting next week from UK. Is a big warm coat required??

Southpaw,
I went to Vegas last January, (late in month) and it was always sunny but windy. I ended up buying a fleece jacket to wear, because I didn't check weather. You might try www.weather.com and check Vegas daily temps. I think you can look at a Month at a time, and it gives averages.
Or you can just shop in Vegas for something new to wear!
Southpaw,
You're right, there were major storms going on (1/7-1/11) but it has cleared up and it's probably going to be sunny until you get here. I would definitely bring a warm coat, because it can get windy, but you shouldn't encounter any major snow or rain storms.
If you plan on casino hopping, I suggest a light coat. You will end up taking your coat off in each casino and putting it on when you get outside. There are many places to buy outerwear if you need something more than what you brought with you.
I was in Vegas last January and found that it could get pretty chilly at night, especially if it was windy. During the day it wasn't too bad, but I'd still bring a light jacket or something.
