 Harry Potter soft opening?

A couple of other sites are reporting that Harry Potter Land could be starting soft openings from April 9th. There is speculation that something big is happening today, as workers were off site from midday today.

Its all soooooo exciting ! We are not there til end of August, but Im really excited for those of you that are going very soon as you may just get a peak before the end of May as you had hoped!

I have been reading orlandounited all day. It seems that hundreds are going in today, employees and their families plus execs etc. Yo all very exciting. The pics are great of the staff costumes, love the hats plus barrels of drink on carts being wheeled in (butterbeer?) Plus big speculation that JK Rowling is there. At last we might all be about to get a lot more info. The greenhouse looks really old, the imagineers who design this stuff just always do such an amazing job. The Orlandounited site went down earlier, think it went into overload lol.

Gla04, hope youve got several spare hours cos the last couple of hundred pages are often quite informative. Especially the bits about the Robotic arm thing being used for The forbidden journey and how they do the dry curtain tech to show illusions, like the death eaters etc. The stuff they have found out is amazing.

But hey well done you for being able to post that link to the pics of the barrels of drinks which might be Butterbeer. It must be sooooo exciting to be out there today , there has been so much speculation as to what World Of Harry Potter was going to be like for a couple of years now, and now the time is here for us to finally begin to get a bit more then the Universal animation advert. Think its going to be really busy though. Lucky you going when the kids are back at school.

Citychick, yes the opening proper, the 'Hard/Grand' opening is advertised as end of May. But long before that they have 'Soft' openings, (now stated as April 9th) where people may be allowed to wander through the Land and shops at random times and they will, on occassion, let people on some of the rides to gain feed back etc. These are not safety checks, because the site will have to be signed off as safe for the public to enter or for rides to be ridden before the guests are allowed in to enjoy. On the site I visit, it states JK Rowling was there last night, along with the construction workers, their families and other staff. The castle was all lit up and food being served. There may well be Tv coverage of some sorts today as there was a helicopter snooping.

IMO it is exciting to get this tantalisingly close now and its iminent that we will be getting more then the animation on the Universal site. I am looking froward to getting more of a glimpse of HP Land, so far pics have been mainly of construction and boards to hide it all. If I was going this April, yes, I would be dissappointed that its only Soft openings, but its more then was hoped for a few days ago, as then you would have been wishing you were going May! Hope all that is being posted on OU comes true for you April guys and you get to take a peak. I guess its going to be a bit random till the end of May, some will be lucky, others not. After all many of us go to Orlando for Disney, me included, so you wont want to spend too much time hanging around at IOA on the off chance of a soft opening.

Apparently soda will not be sold within that area as its not appropriate to the books, but there will be Butter beer, Pumpkin juice and water etc.
