 Tailors in Hoi An

I have heard alot of negative things about the tailors in Hoi An, So when i arrived at Kimmy's custom tailors i was suprised to get what was possibly the best service i have had ever, anywhere. The staff where super friendly and Kimmy made sure there was a personal touch. I had a magic winter jacket and two shirts made and the quality and fit where outstanding, also they made it for me over night as i had an early departure the next day. VIva Kimmy's.

Hey there

You should come to check Elegant Shop - 35 Le Loi St - Hoi An and you can have your own decision then.

Wow, good to know, as I also had some great clothes made at Bamboo Green 38 Tran Phu street. That was a nice experience, very kind and nice young ladies. Clothes fitted well and great qualities.

I've been and was impressed. Wanted to get in touch with them, searching www.kimmycustomtailor.com, but getting no result. Thoughts/ suggestions?

Regarding "Kimmy" - Watch Out.

This new shop appears to be a re-branding of a former Impressions Boutique shop by owner Kim Xuan. She tried to rip me off - have a look at www.impressions-boutique-hoi-an.com to view my experience, or just simply google search them for a variety of reviews. There's plenty.

Now, its possible she has seen the error of her previous nasty business practices and is committing to doing well by her customers. My advice:

1. Buy with a major credit card. You can dispute the charges later if you feel you've been cheated or your clothes fall apart after the first wash.

2. Don't take any nonsense from them. Don't pay for everything up front. Insist that the clothes are delivered to your specification, and if they balk, demand your deposit back. If they don't oblige, then walk out. Visa will back you up.

So, could anyone out there give me a good recommendation for a tailor in Hoi An?

Also, a good place for a single female traveler to stay?

Thanks!

Quikmanblue is absolutely right. Tuong Lai Future clothes shop is one of the best in the price they charge, in quality of their clothes and in the service they provide.

You won’t be disappointed if you plan to pay them a visit. They make our clothes everytime we visit Hoi An and we were never disappointed in them.

Their address is 586 Cua Dai Road. They even have a pick-up service if you have problems with finding them. Just call them and they will pick you up at your hotel.

If you plan to go to their shop don’t forget to say Hi to them from Hans, Yen and Kimberly from Holland

One place I wouldn't go to from experience is Hugo. They give a really bad exchange rate, run you ragged and rush you so that you don't have time to think. My advice would be to only get a few pieces done at a time, pay by major credit card, don't tell them your exact leaving date and keep all receipts and paperwork they give you. My experience was terrible but like all places I'm sure people have had good experiences too. Good luck!

Both me and my girlfriend had some clothes made at Kimmy (70 Tran Hung Dao st.) and so far we are both very happy. Service was excellent, they made a proffessional impression, the price was reasonable and the clothes look great. Go there, but dont forget to bargain!

One place we want to warn you about is Tin (Handbags and Shoes) on Nhi Trung st. We made a pair of shoes there. Nothing wrong with the shoes, but the service was horrible. At first they told us to come back in one day and the shoes would be ready by then. When we came back they told us to come back in two days time. Second time we came back they told us one more day and promised a discount because of the delay. When we returned the third time they refused any kind of money back, but told us that we could have a good discount on some clothes. When we asked for the price they told us a price which was about 20% above the normal starting price.

Our tip is not to go there. There are plenty of other good shoeshops, just dont pick this one.
