A large scale fireworks display will be held in the evening on December 5th, the opening day of the 2009 East Asian Games.
The opening ceremony will start with a pre-show (for ticket holders), then a boats parade on the harbour. The grand finale will be the fireworks discharged from 4 barges on the water, together with pyrotechnics from the rooftop of about 10 buildings.
Beginning around 5pm, there will be road closures in large areas of Central and Wanchai waterfront, and all of Tsimshatsui south of Austin Road. Cars and taxis will not be allowed, and bus routes will be diverted. Ferry services will also be disrupted during the fireworks.
