Does anyone know the latest info on this resort? We're looking for good snorkelling and a kids club on an island which is vaguely affordable!
Cheers

Hi Paulier
We've been advised that Centara is a family friendly resort and has a kids club. I haven't booked anything until I can see this is true. It's difficult to be sure which facilities that are planned will actually materialise when a new resort opens. I appreciate that you'd rather not have kids around and equally I wouldn't want to take my children somewhere where they weren't wanted.
There are many islands that don't accept kids and some which although they say kids are 'accepted' clearly don't encourage families to stay and don't have kids clubs or facilities. If you're very keen not to see any children, maybe you should rethink?
When are you going? I'm sure we won't overlap but if the resort is being marketed as a family resort, there may well be others there. I'd suggest avoiding half term just in case!
Hi, this resort has a family section of water villa's specifically for families so yes it is a family friendly resort. If people do not want to holiday with islands that have kids then they should avoid booking hotels with family areas.
have a look at the other thread thats on here about centara, we are just about to book, we dont have children but dont mind children being on holiday when we are.
it looks like its going to be a family friendly resort and the villas are a good size and there is a family water villa.
I cant imagine there being lots and lots of entertainment and acitivities but there is a kids club 2 diff age groups and I am sure as parents you would take along the things they like, such as books, travel games, psp's or ds's, colouring things etc.
I personally am looking forward to a maldives holiday with an early (well earlyish) rise and to bed at a reasonable time!
As I and many other regulars on this forum have said before, wait until the resort has been open six months, otherwise you have a very high chance that the bargain prices you get will not be such a bargain when you arrive!! new islands never open on time, when they do open there is usually varying amounts of building work still going on ... etc etc it can take at least 1 yr for a resort to settle down, the builders do not usually care too much about the reefs and so for this reason alone I would stay away until the reef was cleaned etc I know of some resorts that have been open 2 years and are still waiting for this to happen.
There is no such thing as a bargain in the Maldives!!
I would hate to say I told you so in 6 months time, but it usually happens, look at the velassaru opening earlier this year for examples!! or the coco palm last year!

well we have booked a luxury water villa for end nov this year and are very excited about it.
I hope you enjoy and that the resort opens on time!! which will be a first for the Maldives!!! despite what the tour operator says, they just want to sell rooms, and then palm you off with the likes of Meeru / Sun island when the resort you booked does not open on time!! I may be way off the mark with Centara, but dont believe a word the tour operator tells you, they are all full of it, and overbook every holiday based on a percentage that will ultimately cancel (FACT).

well I am looking forward to my holiday and in the event it doesnt open I will take a holiday elsewhere meeru water villa would be fine or wait until march next year
Its not a witch hunt, Im just trying to pre warn you that these are the issues with new resorts, any way it would not be a luxury bargain if you ended up at meeru would it!!
