you can stay anywhere in bangkok as most hotels are only 30 to 40 minuites from the airport by taxi which are cheap.

or you could choose an airport hotel .

There's a list of good airport hotels to suit all budgets on the FAQs (top right). Some provide free shuttle, some charge a small fee.

I also highly recommend the Novotel Suvarnabhumi. One of the more expensive options but the service, rooms and facilities more than make up for it!

Here's the latest and greatest UPDATED version of THE LIST:

Sananwan Palace: http://bangpli.com/sananwan.htm Very clean, friendly, family-run guesthouse about 20 min by taxi from the terminal, with nice big pool, A/C room for 600 Baht, in the very interesting old village of Bangphli. Many people return again and again and the feedback is excellent. The hotel will do an airport pickup for 500 baht. Taxi costs about 120 baht.

Miracle Hometel is the latest dicovery: http://www.miracle-hometel-suvarnabhumi.com/ 7km from the airport, about 15 minutes. Currently offering a special: deluxe room with free round trip airport transfer, full American breakfast, a pass to use the Louis Tavern Business Class Silver lounge at the airport, compllimentary in-room minibar, for 2900 baht. This hotel has all the amenities: internet access, pool, spa, 2 restaurants etc.

Great Residence Hotel http://www.greatresidencehotel.com/index.html is close to the airport overpass. They're asking 900-1300 baht including breakfast for an A/C room. No pool or wifi, but offering flexible rates for day-rooms and free transfer from the airport.

Plai Garden: http://www.plaigarden.com/index.html newest entry on the airport perimeter, offering free airport pickup if you book online. 900-1300 baht. No pool.

If you're interested in something really different and quintessentially Thai, Baan Chay Namm offers cute brand-new cottages on a lake or a khlong east of Suvarnabhumi Airport: http://www.baanchaynamm.com/index.php. 1500 baht gets you accommodation, breakfast and free airport shuttle. You must take their transportation, because I imagine it's extremely difficult for taxis to find their way to this secluded location, about 15 minutes from the airport.

The Ivory http://www.theivorybangkok.com/index.htm says it's 10 min. from the airport on Lat Krabang. 1800 baht for a standard single. Free wifi. Airport transfers 200 baht.

Royal Paradise Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport: http://www.royalparadisebangkok.com/index.htm 2 km from the airport and offers basic rooms for 990 baht not including breakfast. Airport transfer costs 200 baht each way.

Silver Gold Garden: http://www.silvergoldgarden.com/photos.htm off Lat Krabang only 3 km from the airport. Brand new, rooms start at 950, no pool, free airport transfer. This one gets very good feedback.

Tong Ta Resort & Spa: http://www.siamairportmotel.com/index.html On Lat Krabang, brand new hotel with free wifi, sauna, only 5-10 minutes from the airport. Rooms start at 850 baht. Charging 150 baht each way for the airport transfer.

Convenient Resort: asiatravel.com/thailand/…index.html. Newly-built 4-story hotel at Lat Krabang, about 5-10 min. drive from the airport. 1000-1200 baht.

SP Powerlodge: http://www.sppowerlodge.com. On Lat Krabang. Basic rooms, no pool. Price of 1300-1900 includes 2-way airport transfer.

Floral Shire Resort: sawadee.com/hotel/…pictures.html is just on the edge of the airport, maybe 5 minutes from the terminal. 1200-1300 baht. Brand new. No pool. Motel style.

Queen's Garden Resort: http://www.queensgardenresort.net/ only 5 min. from the airport. A couple years old now, quite popular.

Grand Inn Come Hotel: r24.org/thailand1x1.com/… kind of a typical Thai small-town hotel, no pool, 20 min. from airport, 1800 baht "Let out professional masseuses treat and pamper your stiff and stressed."

Avana Hotel: http://www.avanahotel.com/index.php, sort of the kind of suburban upscale hotel where Thais hold weddings and conferences. Pool and all the usual amenities, 1200 baht. Maybe about 25-30 min. from the airport.

Ibis Hotel Huamak: ibishotel.com/ibis/…fiche_hotel.shtml Chain hotel about 20-25 min from the airport. Pool, 800-1200 baht.

Rachana Place: http://www.ratchanaplace.com/, a hostel about 25 min. from the airport, 350 baht. Free WifFi.

On Nut Guesthouse: hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/… backpacker hostel about a half hour from the airport and within walking distance of the end station of the Skytrain/BTS line.
