I just remembered something that I kept meaning to ask about when I was in DC, but always seemed to forget about it when I was near a park ranger or someone who might have known the answer.
You can probably guess the question from the subject line :-) I was in DC at the end of November and the reflecting pool was empty, and I wondered if this is usual for the time of year or if maybe something was going on that meant they had to empty it? Maybe for cleaning the bottom or something? At one point a young man jumped into the empty pool and went across it on a skateboard, but I'm sure that can't be they reason why they took all the water out!
