“ Red Light district in Prague ”

A group of 12 of us heading to Prague in September for the Czech-Ireland match. We've provisionally booked accommodation in the Andante Hotel in Ve Smeckach 4, New Town. On further reserach this seems to be bang in the middle of the Red Light district which isnt a problem but im wondering is it a safe area especially if some of us are coming home in the early hours a bit worse for wear.

Prague is a safe place - muggings and the like are very rare.

petty pickpocketing occurs in the city centre, but generally they go for easy targets - people with wallets in their back pockets and that kind of thing. take sensible precautions and you should be ok. beware of when talking to professional girls on the streets - whilst you are doing so, someone else may be taking a look at your pockets

Ve Smeckach is the centre of the strip club (cabaret) area with two major clubs in that road plus three sport bars. If you stay in the street you'll have no problems. The problems come if you are staggering around Wenceslas Square on your own.
