I don't use that company but it is common to pay after you get to your destination. You should question them as to why the want payment up front.

I responded in another post....I used them in November 2007 - specifically asked to prepay and they said no - pay the driver....I had cash/euros with me and paid the driver when we arrived at the B & B....I did tip him on top of the fee.

I also dealt with Charlotta.

I reserved with Charlotta in Sept. Did not pay up front however I never seen driver. Waited half hour after arriving. When I returned homeI e-mailed her. She said our driver was there. There is two places where passengers arrive she said perhaps the driver was at a different arrival area. I didn't understand how that could have happened if the driver had my airline schedule. It would seem he would of checked our arrival point. Sowe wound up taking a cab. I am glad we did not pay up front

no never pay up front for a limo service, if it does not show, you'll be sure never to see your money again either!

I'd rather hale a taxi than pay up front for this serice. Nearly everyone here swears by Romecabs perhaps send them an e.mail (romecabs@yahoo.com).

Thanks to everyone for help & suggestions! Yes, I thought it was really weird to prepay for the service, as I religiously read the boards and never noticed this before.

FYI - I was looking into this option, as I have to leave ridiculously early for my flight, so I needed the security of booking a taxi service beforehand, rather than just hailing a cab or taking the train service to FCO.

We also had a problem in that they didn't keep their reservation with us. I understand your situation and suggest that you try to get Euro coins (e.g. if you buy any Euros at the exchange at the airport), so you can call them if needed. (Do you have a cell phone that will work in Rome?) Or maybe someone else can suggest a back-up plan.

Make sure you email them the night before you leave reminding them of the time and date you come in.

Hi .. I cant speak for other companies..But I know Roma Shuttle Service very well. It seems the other websites dont have a contact number...which seems a bit fishy.

They use only E-Class Mercedes and/or mini-bus's

You pay the driver and they are all nice and speak good if at times funny English.

They wait for you at arrivals holding a sign which will have your name on it.

Its like 40 euros fixed rate to the centre.

If you flag a taxi..expect to pay more. Personaly I'm not a big fan of Roman cab-drivers.
