Paris Forum: shopping on boxing day

Boxing Day does not exist in France and winter sales won't start till January 12th so December 26 will just be like any other Saturday.

I don't enjoy shopping personally so I may not be the best person to advise on where to shop but it's difficult to walk around Paris without finding shopping opportunities. Most major boulevards and avenues are now lined with chain stores. If the weather is bad and you prefer a mall environment, avoid the one in Châtelet-les-Halles in the middle of the city as it is overcrowded. The one at the foot of Tower Montparnasse is much more pleasant.

The original Galeries Lafayette department store on Boulevard Haussmann is more on the upscale/expensive side but it must be seen for its beautiful architecture and Christmas lights.

I would recommend going to this fun gift shop called Pylones. They have one on Ile Saint-Louis, one in the Marais as well as other Paris locations:

If you enjoy shopping, you'll find lots of shopping opportunities in every district as you visit Paris, ranging from the chain stores to the unique little boutiques so don't worry about finding things that will appeal to all of you, but don't expect anything special or any sales on December 26.
